Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - HKG-TPE questionsView Full Version : HKG-TPE questions LAX Feb 22, 07, 9:07 pm Are there any differences between the different equipments CX uses on HKG-TPE in terms of seat comfort and amenities? I will be in J. TIA. LAX christep Feb 22, 07, 9:29 pm Amenities no. Seat comfort and IFE, yes. If you get a long-haul plane (744, A340, or 3-class A330) then you get long-haul business seats and AVOD. But given that the time during which you can use the AVOD on HKG-TPE is normally less than 45 minutes and you're being fed and watered as well it doesn't make much real difference IMO. WearyBizTrvlr Feb 23, 07, 12:36 am I just pick my HKG-TPE flights by schedule rather than seat comfort. The differences are big as christep pointed out, but the flight is so short it hardly matters. For me it's much more important to arrive or depart at a convenient time. I have had op-ups from J to F on the 744 service to TPE (the one that goes on to NRT), which was pleasant of course, but again, it didn't make that much of a difference. ny911 Feb 23, 07, 12:05 pm CX450's loading varies all the time. My dad got op upped to F twice. But last time only 3 pax including myself on Upper Deck, which is even better than in F. ralphto2112 Feb 23, 07, 6:31 pm the aircraft shown this route is just for reference. Because this is very short flight. They change the airfract type very often without notice. It does not matter much indeed party_boy Feb 23, 07, 8:50 pm As with the other posters mentioned, this is a 45 min flight. I'd just choose flights by schedule rather than aircraft/seating type. You can't really watch any movies in 45 min so the AVOD is a wash. LAX Feb 24, 07, 5:37 pm I agree that this is a relatively short flight. However, I just want to make sure that there isn't a huge difference in the seat as is the case of F on a domestic vs international UA 777. Thanks for all the replies. LAX SAN_Finn Feb 26, 07, 11:06 pm The flight's more like an hour. I know there is probably others here who fly the route a lot, I did 18 round trips on cx last year. Got F twice (usually fly J, sometimes y if on my own dime). And you guys are right about the equipment, more often than not it's a complete guessing game on what shows up at the gate. Often on busy days the last flight out of the day seems to get upgraged if needed (I take this pretty often to maximize weekend in HK). I wish they posted the arriving gate information for HK ahead of time, id take the next flight to get gate 2 instead of 68 :) aep Mar 5, 07, 9:21 am The flight's more like an hour. Sometimes 70 minutes, and sometimes a 30-min delay on the ground in HKG. And you guys are right about the equipment, more often than not it's a complete guessing game on what shows up at the gate. Often on busy days the last flight out of the day seems to get upgraged if needed (I take this pretty often to maximize weekend in HK). I wish they posted the arriving gate information for HK ahead of time, id take the next flight to get gate 2 instead of 68 :) I really doubt they even have a clue until they're on the ground. CX operations seem to be on autopilot when it comes to the HKG-TPE flights. Autopilot in a bad way.... :-/ |
