View Full Version : SDAR at Sixt -- what kind of car?

Hello! I have a SDAR (standard with automatic) reserved at ZRH, and the car that is listed is an Opel Omega. However, Opel stopped making these in 2003...

Any ideas on what I may get? SDMR seems to be an Alfa 159 or Audi A4, but these are manual cars, so not sure if Sixt carries automatic versions (plus, I also requested GPS). I'm also Platinum, so any chances I will get an upgrade?

Thanks in advance, it's my first time renting from somebody other than Hertz... ;)

Not sure, how you booked the car... but sdar doesnt exist with sixt. you probably get a peugeot 407 estate with navi, or if your lucky with platinum card a c class or e class automatik.
however, sdar doesnt exist

if you want to make sure you get an automatic car, call them before you go

Should be a A4 automatic or possibly a volvo ( S= road car, d=4 doors,a=automatic,r+ air con)

Thanks for the input -- I used one of the discount links in a recent Sixt thread in this forum, so I did notice that the "regular" Sixt codes did not show the SDAR. Then again, the rate I got was almost 1/2 of the price of the next class up, so I can't complain. ^

This is not quite true! SDAR is an international code for rental car sizes (abbrev: SIPP). S stands for standard size (F for fullsize, L for luxury, C for compact...), D in that case means standard limo (the other choice is W for a station wagon...), A means automatic transmission (M is manual transmission) and R comes from AC, but I have never ever experienced a rental car witout a/c!

Thanks everyone! I ended up getting a Platinum upgrade to a 3-Series with navigation (fullsize), so it worked out pretty well. ^

And FYI, this is the link from the other thread I used (click on Sixt and follow the links for US Citizens) -- very good deal, thanks to RamAir in the other thread!

But not as good as the Happy Digits discount.
Beware, the rate in the link excludes 19% VAT.
SIXT online rates (incl. Happy Digits) include VAT.

Thanks for warning me. I'll try the Happy Digits discount too.
BTW, the rental will be in Morocco ... I don't know about VAT there, but will check ...

I don't think Happy Digits Discounts do work in Morocco, but what do I know.
Good luck!

I checked it. The Happy Digit price is exactly the same like with my Platinum.
The VAT in Morocco is 20%(?!). The price through the link from prashok is still better (when VAT added).
I'll post the results after I rented ... see what happens... I am learning Arabic already, words like "discount" ...:D
