Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Debating on whether to use Enterprise or Hertz at MCO...

I'm presently a Hertz #1 Gold, and I have an upcoming trip to MCO for four days.

Hertz and Enterprise are asking for approximately the same rate ($220 for 4 days, standard size, 3 people), and since I'm over 25, there are no additional age charges. I plan to be driving no more than 200 miles over the course of the trip. These are the only two I'm considering because of preferred agreements with the university.

Pros for Hertz in my case:
#1 Club Gold (don't have to wait at counter)
Pretty decent service in general

Pros for Enterprise:
Insurance with my university
Slightly ($10) cheaper

I've heard that the MCO Enterprise unit can be a bit difficult to deal with, so I'm wondering which place you would go with if you had these options. Thanks!

I have used both alot. I have found Enterprise to vary by station but so far I know of no bad ones. I havent been to MCO in awhile.

The pros about Enterprise is you often get a better car than you ask for and will get an upsell offer at the counter that usually beats whats offered at time of rental. Sometimes they are sneaky about it offering you the nicer car without mentioning the cost except at the last minute in passing...

They walk you to your car and do a walk around with you which is good and bad. Bad as it takes time, good in that it makes sure you check for damage and there is someone there if you find any issues with the car right away. Many times I have done Hertz Canopy only to get into a car with no gas or something... ARGH!

Enterprise has some good cars as does Hertz. But you usually need to get an upgrade coupon to get an upgrade with Hertz while Enterprise often will comp you an upgrade or have a pretty flat rate structure.

I'd go with Enterprise and take the free insurance. There are so many tourists in Orlando during the spring, I'd be a little nervous about the car getting banged up. I've never had any issues with the Enterprise at MCO. The last time I was there they were having a pretty slow day, and I was able to pick just about any car I wanted off of the lot.

Just got back from MCO:

Ended up taking the Hertz rental because I needed to make a rental quickly (I had to do it before the previous posts showed up).

Car was fine - received upgrade (Taurus -> Azera), no damage (one really minor tap of the driver's side mirror, no damage noticed). Would have liked to have the car available instead of going to the VIP "lounge"

Everything else looked pretty good.

I like Avis in MCO - it's right in the parking garage. Aside from that, I've had quite a few good rentals with Hertz there and one really low priced rental from Enterprise but found the location to be far from the terminal and I don't really like their obligatory walk-around and insurance up-sell.

Priceline is a good option at MCO. I've ended up with cars from Avis, Alamo and Budget. If you use online check-in before your flight, the length of the line at the counter is a non-issue. The Priceline pricing is significantly lower than each companie's web sites.

Avis is my preference at MCO due to being on site. Hertz is second, but would be first if they were on site. I'll never rent from Enterprise again - as I did last time when Hertz/Avis were out of cards - I went to Dollar instead.

First, Enterprise must be the furthest off-airport facility at MCO. Second, even with a corporate agreement with them (we are supposed to use them if Hertz is not available), they still gave me the hard sell for insurance, even though our corporate profile says to decline. They at least gave an upgrade without trying to charge for it. But I'll never deal with them again.

I always use Hertz at MCO. It's their biggest location and thus have lots of "interesting" cars for me to play with.

My favorite upgrade was from a Taurus to a Cadillac XLR back in 2005. Unfortunatly, I believe the XLR was replaced with the Corvette convertible.

After putting Infiniti into my #1 Gold profile, we almost always get at least a G35 when reserving an F size at MCO.
