Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - American operated by Horizon CX qualifying?

I am scheduled to fly on an American Airlines flight that is operated by Horizon (LAX-Medford, OR). If I choose Asia Miles rather than AAdvantage miles will these be counted as CX qualifying for Marco Polo?

I need 128 Marco Polo points before my next transpacific flight - so that the outbound segment reaches 60K - otherwise the return segment will reach the 60K and 9,000 points will not be counted for a new qualifying period.

If the Medford, OR flight does not qualify (I asked Marco Polo and American but cannot get a definitive answer) any way to get 128 Marco Polo points from LAX other than a short (unnecessary) flight?

Thanks

...

Unfortunately, no.

You could route LAX-SFO-Medford with LAX-SFO on AA (thereby earning about 400 miles). Even if SFO-Medford is on UA and not AA codeshare you'd be better off, and depending on the ticket type it might be the same fare.

Thanks. I thought of the SFO routing - but I am flying with other people and cannot change this trip.
