On many of my previous posts some of you may have noticed me making mention of the Cricket World Cup being hosted by the Caribbean this year. I have been advising person to expect crowded airports (crowded host countries to be exact), limited availability of rental cars, hotel rooms and flights and of course price increases for everything tourist related. We have even started to notice a change in the departure tax structure at BGI.
Many large Caribbean companies with offices spread across the islands have already issued circulars to freeze all office related travel during this period due to inflated airfares and accommodation costs.
A few persons I have spoken to advised that they will be vacationing in islands that aren’t Cricket World Cup destinations during this period but these islands are already reporting increased bookings as a result of persons trying to escape the crowds at World Cup venues.
I felt it would be of some value to post the World Cup Schedules here so readers could have an idea of the venues and dates to note. For those who love the game “Come on down”, to the others at least you were warned.
