Hello everybody,
What do you think, does it make sense to join the FFP of an american airline, so that you will not have to pay fuel surcharge for award tickets? The point is, I live in Europe and probably will never fly that airline, but will fly others Skyteam members (AF, AZ, OK...)
Thanks for your opinions

I'd want to be a member of the program sponsored by the airline I fly most often. Airlines tend to treat their own elites better. Chances for free or upgraded tickets may be better.

Join DL and put your AF AZ and OK miles on DL. By principle, DL refuses that award have a fuel surcharge. They stopped their award deal with VS because VS wanted to impose fuel surcharges. I have gripes about DL, but on this one, GO DL!

If you want to hear more about this, I helped at least two people redeeming DL awards on SQ for whom the Indonesian office wanted to charge them fuel surcharge. Once told that DL does not charge fuel surcharges, they got the money back.

I agree that DL would be a good choice, provided upgrade issues don't prohibit you from joining. Do you hold any elite status?
