Dont only check LCCs as BA sometimes has lower fares on their LGW route than the LCCs. Time of day and day or week greatly effect rates on this route and fares vary widely. LHR routes are always much more expensive. BA has even had a very discounted business class fare from LGW to MAD.
Easyjet flies from LGW, STN and LTN to MAD along with Aerolineas Argentinas owned www.airpluscomet.com from LGW which they use as a feeder for their south american routes. MAD newcomer Ryanair only flies to East Midlands EMA at the moment.
