Hilton HHonors - Instant Hilton Gold Vip Status

I'm sure there's a link or offercode at the moment to get instant Gold status with HHonors.

Hi Richard.

The code is I think INTU for overseas HHonors and CNTU for us located here in the US.

There is another code you may be interested in, although I am not sure it is good for non-US HHonors. IT is ONMC -- and this should provide you with 2,500 HHonors points, instead of the normal 1,000 points, if you book on Hilton's website for stays booked and completed by 7/31/02.

ONMC works for European based Hilton members. I did got 2500 points for a booking at Hilton Manchester Airport hotel.

I signed up for INTU a couple of weeks ago without any problems by calling the US number, but the website still shows my status as Blue. So the change is certainly not always instant. I am hoping I will get Gold after completing the 4 stays...

Call up and signed my wife up for CNTU and when I got off the phone and checked her status online it was Gold already.

Dont' worry (at least for the UK) as my wife called them as she is already a member and was firmly bounced from being given the offer even after she mentioned I was a Diamond.

I've signed up for and been receiving the 50,000 promotion tiered points awards and the 2,500 for each online reservation. But I am still listed as a blue cardholder. My understanding was that you do not receive gold until AFTER you complete the four stays. Is that correct? Hey, anyone have any idea if this CNTU promotion is still valid? I got a similar email from HH a couple months ago, but I believe the offer expired in June. Could I just call and quote that code to sign up again?

I've got a cross-country road trip next week, and will likely make four stays. Any other suggestions on a quick way to gold? I'm already silver now, but nowhere close to the normal threshold.

If I qualify for gold through some promotion, do I then just need 12 more "stays" to achieve Diamond (28 for diamond versus 16 for Gold). Gold in most properties means nothing as far as upgrades. The upgrades only started coming when I became diamond. Anyone know

You have to do 28 stays ( or 60 nites) irregardless of your current status

So how come the rest of us seem to get upgraded to exec rooms and even suites when we Golds stay at Hiltons,dmanphoenix? Why did you have to become Diamond before you got these upgrades, etc.? What part of the world are you staying in, because outside NAmerica, Hiltons are very good to Golds.

No problems (as yet) getting upgrades and perks as a Gold on any of our stays for several years. Recent stays have been upgraded without even asking for them, when I call to have the hotel verify that my HHonors number is on the reservations.

All the travel has been in San Diego. Doubletree Mission Valley, Doubletree Club, Hilton San Diego. This along with Tucson has been my only exposure as far as Hilton because I started traveling for work in 2003. I was upgraded once as a gold for about 10 times. Since Diamond I have been upgraded each time except for twice. 14 stays. It is just my experience. I have been upgraded at the Hilton Tucson East but NEVER at the Doubletree at Reid Park in Tucson, not sure what the problem is there.

As Gold I never used to get upgrades either, domestic or int'l; it wasn't until I whined about it on FT that someone told me to put in comment section on-line request upgrade. Since then I've gotten them. Bit irritating that I should have to do that, though, vs them automatically doing it.

In the comment section I always list I'm HHonors Gold and request upgrade if available. If you've stayed at the hotel before, also list "returning guest". Seems to do the trick for me.

Well, these front desk folks are busy, some are new, and I never assume they will actually read thoroughly and take the time to figure it all out - so I take a few seconds to make it easier by filling in the "vitals" in the comment line - and it has paid off for me inumerable times.

Here is another scenario: what if a hotel has more Golds and Diamond members arriving then they have upgraded room types available? The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so to speak!!

I find typing in "guest is Gold or Diamond VIP" in the comment section greatly increases your chances or an upgrade.

Do people modify the comments section of paid reservations...or also award redemption reservations? I have two award redemption reservations currently...but I can't see anyways that I'm able to go in and modify the comments, etc...related to these reservations. I called the HHonors CS center and got them to add the info (but they only added "REQ UPGRADE IF AVAIL @ CK-IN" (which seems like their standard generic request). They didn't add "is Gold-VIP and HGVC member" as I had asked them to. :-(

I bat about 75% at most Hiltons over the years as a Gold, and was upgraded on AWARD stays in the last few weeks at Basel and Nairobi. In Switzerland in fact they phoned in the am and ASKED if we wanted to be upgraded to a suite after the first night on a 6 night stay. And offered a choice of room even.

I had checked in along with another FT'er - long term Diamonds, and they also could not get upgraded the initial night, no matter how cajoling their protests. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

They also were upgraded for the next night. So in this case Gold and Diamond were treated identically.

Unfortunately I changed ISP and the Flyertalk system will not let me use "Mileonaire" again, and my e-mails to the admin dept. go unanswered.

The Citibank Chairman's card includes Gold status. There is a long thread here all about it: many people used the code without actually having the card, and HHonors ended up auditing some of the folks and removing the Gold status. So, I'm not exactly recommending that you call up and use the code without having the card - but if you need Gold, you could pick up this credit card and get it.

Of course, I probably wouldn't pick up the card just for HH Gold status, due to its high annual fee. But check out its other benefits...maybe you'll find it worth it. In the U.S. it's $400 a year; no idea whether the exact card is available in the UK or what its annual fee is.

You may find that your best bet is to ask HH to give you some sort of Gold challenge. A four-stay 90-days thing...

I don't think U.S. Amex Platium will get you Hilton Gold. I got *wood Gold with Amex Platium though.

We had a corporate code on our intranet where you can sign up and get HH Silver after one stay and Gold after two stays. I was Gold already when I joined the company so it was of limited use...

5 stay for 15K is not very good deal since that is only enough for category 1-2 hotel with Hilton. Hyatt, SPG, and even Marriott has much more attractive promotions than that.

I typically stay at Sheraton gateway LAX or Sheraton 4pts LAX. The marriott is something on promotion for e-break on weekends.

5 stay for 15K is not very good deal.... .

It's 15K LH miles not HH points. 15K miles is good for a free intra-european flight.

I got an Instant Gold VIP snail mail offer today.
Speaking with Customer Service immediately got my points transferred to the new account and the status activated ^^

Do you know what prompted the offer? Did you have to give a certain code and if so, do you know if others can use it? I have been "demoted" to silver and trying to get back to Gold.
