The T&Cs for the Triple points promo (Ending March 31st) says that promo bonus points take 2-3 weeks to post to your account. What is your personal experience with this type of promotion?

With one other hotel brand I have experience with, the bonus points post along with the base stay points.

Cheers, :p

I've had huge variance in terms of when promo points posted to my account.

Triple Point promo points for a large number of my stays didn't post until this past weekend and they posted all at once. I'm still waiting for any points from some of my California (the 6K and 10K) promos to post, not to mention the Bedroom Makeover promo.

On the other hand, the Texas Winback promo from late 2006 seemed to post within a day of when my stay points posted.

At this point, I don't worry about the points posting until the terms of each promotion say they'll post.

Pints fo SoCal posted very fast (within 3 days) of each stay. My starry nights have not posted and it's been 3 weeks.

I noticed that my starry nights promo points all posted on the saturday following the qualifying stay... so never more than a few days here.

Well looks like my Starry nights are not posting properly so I called and they told me the promo was deleted off of my account in january!?!? What the... did this happen to anyone else??

I don't know if this has been discussed but "Once upon a time", you would check out of an SPG property and "Viola" the next day your stay/nights/points would be posted and you could see the transaction. And then when the weekend would roll around the weekly sweep for the promos would be posted.

Now you get the nights/stay/points the next day (sometimes) but you don't see the transaction for another day. And now the sweeps could take up to 2 weeks to be posted and seen.

Bad enough in the past I had to call for my PLT amenity, but now I have a call in for triple points in ORD, CMT and promo 973. The rep I spoke documented my account and said give it another week.

What happened? Why did SPG "improve" the system by making it worse. Quite frustrating:td: :td: :td:

No complaints on my side with SPG ... Hilton one the other hand takes ages and I regularly have to chase up missing stays ...

It is odd to see the points post before the stay is visible. I can't say I'm frustrated with it, but it is strange.

What's frustrating is having to chase down the points that used to points regularly.

I think William has explained this before. Your account information is pulled from different sources of database. Your total points and stays might be pulled from one source while the detailed transactions are pulled from another. They are not updated at the same time.

I havn't had problems with bonus points being posted. They come pretty quickly...

Yes. This is the reason. The part that seems to show up later than the other takes a nightly update in order to display online. It is not done in real time, while the other is.

I have no idea if this changed somehow from what it was in the past or, if it did, if it will change back at some point in the future, but it is what we are working with currently.

Sincerely,

Interesting... Are you not seeing your stay points on your account as quickly as you used to, or are you not seeing promotional points appear as quickly as you used to?

Initially, I found it confusing before I realized the timing delays. The differences in timing between when stays, points and account activity post can be annoying and are far from ideal, but I've gotten used to it at this point.

Unfortunately both. The points post but the transaction showing the points post a day later. They used to be at the same time.

As far as the promotional points. They are just not posting although the CS Rep says they should. She also told me that the "systems" for posting promotions are slow these days. and I'm not the only one affected.

Doesn't really make sense to me, but she asked to give the system another week for the sweep. I'll wait until next Sunday and see.

End result was that the bonus points took about 7 days to post.

Sorry, but there are two other threads discussing this same thing (one is on the front page tonight :)). I'm closing this one for merging into the others. Thanks.

I am still waiting for mine. Like I posted above, I will wait until this weeks sweeps and see what happens.

My daughter stayed in at the NY Sheraton a couple of weeks ago. Her triple points and 2000 point bonus posted within days, and she's not even gold. Maybe it is hotel by hotel, who knows.
