My family of five (three children) did a quick overnight there on February 2. I stayed using 3000 points. Upon check in at 11p, I was warmly and respectfully greeted and and my gold status was acknowledged. Without prompting, I was informed that I would be staying on their club level floor and that I would receive club room access for breakfast the next morning. The club lounge was clean and well run. There was free internet access in the bedroom. The hotel itself was satisfactory from an aesthetic perspective, but nothing spectacular. Bottom line, it was the best 3000 points I've spent to date. I'll certainly stay at this property in the future.

Where exactly was this? Are you talking about Studio City, CA? The only SPG hotel anywhere near there is the Sheraton Universal. Or are there multiple Studio Cities?

It's in Orlando, not too far from Universal Studios. I've stayed there, and while somewhat dumpy, it was nevertheless a great value and I was very well-treated by all the staff.

Other than the windows needing a cleaning (this was immediately post 9/11, some time ago now), it was a very pleasant stay.

Property is a little old and tired. But, had good experience with staff and hotel.

The Sheraton Studio City in Orlando is one of the hotels that jumped category from 2 to 3, so those 3K point weekend nights now cost 7K points. Way too much, especially since the "Best Available Rate" is usually around $119.

Seems to me that this property just doesn't want people staying there for "free" anymore.

I've stayed here a few times and have found it to be a little long in the tooth, but a good value.

I recently made a complaint about some of their Housekeeping practices. I got a reply from a manager that assured me, my experience was not standard and that dicussion had been had with the staff to correct. A month later, I found the exact same offending practices in place. I send a follow up e-mail and never received a reply.

Value or not, they have lost may business. There are too many other value oriented hotels in the immediate area -- mostly Hilton brands.

I was there again last week. It's only an OK property with friendly staff.

It is in Orlando, on International, what else would you expect:eek:
