Hey guys, I've been to NYC a few times, but it's been to visit family. My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and I'd like to take her to NYC. Does anyone know of any good hotel deals Feb 23-25th, somewhere in Manhattan, hopefully around times square, rockafeller center, or some other big tourist attraction?

We're both 21 and still in school, but I want to take her somewhere decent (you'd sleep there!) but not too expensive!

Thanks!

Look at the pod hotel which has availability on your dates. They're featured in USA Today this morning (which may mean rooms will start selling quickly).

I know you specifically asked for Manhattan, but I take the liberty of suggesting The Courtyard by Marriott in Jersey City, NJ, directly across the river (tel 201-626-6600). Its adjacent to the PATH train to Manhattan - about a 10-15 minute ride into midtown. It runs 24 hours.

Before writing this post I checked the Courtyard website, and its showing availability the weekend you want for $139 - $159 ish per night.

Nice sized rooms -- you couldn't touch the size and quality similar in Manhattan for at least $250 - $300/night.

If you check the courtyard website - www.courtyard.com - and go to "Jersey City" it will give you more details and proximity to Manhattan.

Check out the Millenium Hilton in Lower Manhattan, right across from Ground Zero. It typically goes for $400-500/night during the week but you can frequently find rooms for below $200 over the weekend on the Hilton website. It's close to several metro...sorry, subway stations which will get you uptown in 5-10 minutes and is one of the nicer four star hotels in NYC. Unlike the City (London), I find there is enough activity and restaurants in LM during the weekend that you don't feel like you're living on another planet.

My favorite, and only one I have stayed at, is Roger Smith on Lexington and 47th. Minutes from Grand Central, Times Square, Rockefeller, UN etc. You could even comfortably walk to Central Park.

I haven't paid much more than $140/night each time I've stayed.

Great rooms, each indivdually designed. It's a nice boutique hotel.

I've stayed in Jersey City a couple times, and that location actually does work well for Manhattan, and is quite easy to maneuver with PATH. The other option might be to try priceline for Jersey City, where I've got the Hyatt a number of times. Most of the winning bids do tend to be for weekend stays.

I don't know about prices at the moment, but had a very nice weekend with my wife a couple of years ago at the Roger Williams (on Madison in the 30's, I believe) with a very good weekend rate. Had surprisingly good service at the Marriott Courtyard on the Upper Eastside (so good I wrote the company and complimented specific employees -- I learned the manager there is excellent). Had a mediocre stay for 10K Starpoints at a Sheraton on the Upper East side (Lexington Ave, I believe). I like staying at the Embassy Suites downtown, but I doubt that this will come anywhere near your price point.

Last time we went to NYC someone had recommended the Radio City Apartment Hotel. Just checked the website rates are starting at $160/night for your dates.

We wound up staying at the Eastgate Tower because we had a lot of kids & their rooms were huge plus, I got a great rate.

Sorry, Paul - I'm going to have to close this thread - whereas there's nothing wrong with checking for help on budget hotels or getting hotel reviews in the NY forum, FlyerTalk isn't a place where we allow requests for assistance in finding airfares or hotel deals for your trips. Please see the sticky at the top of this forum.
