Starwood Preferred Guest - How many SPG points can I convert to miles at one time?

I'm getting ready to redeem SPG points earned from the Starwood Am Ex card into AA points to get business class award tickets. Thiss is the first time I've transferred points since getting this card. I need 100K points to top off my Aadvantage account, so I need to redeem 80K, right? (because of the extra 5K per 20K redemption bonus, right?) Can I do it all at once like you can with a regular Am Ex card? Can I do it online or do I have to phone it in. I want to be sure I get it right in the timing of the points showing up and the award ticket reservation being on hold until the points transfer in and I can get ticketed.

The maximum per single transaction is 99,999 so you would need to split the transaction in order to get 100,000 miles.

See post #21 to #25 in 611497

Yes, you can do the transaction online. I do not know how long it will take to post. Perhaps SPG.com says how long.

I've converted *wood points to AA miles several times; they've showed up between 24 and 72 hours later. ^

I believe you have to transfer them in 20,000 mile amounts to maximize the 5000 point match. Also, you need to leave some time between the transfers. I did 2 one right after the oterh and the second one did not post. When I called AA they said the computer though it was a duplication. I got it straightened out but it was a pain.

susiesan, you can do it all online:

AA has been the fastest to transfer Starpoints, IMO. My transfers to US have always taken more than 2 weeks and normally require an assist from the Platinum concierge or even William.
