Hello, I"m looking for a nice hotel to stay at with my husband for 2 days in March (22 and 23 - thurs/fri). We are looking for a nice, clean, comfortable quieter hotel or B&B -- we love places like Horned Dorset but not looking to pay that amount at this time. Somewhere in the $100-150 price range is ideal. Any suggestions, has anyone stayed at the Lazy Parrot? (heard good things but the pics look a bit basic?)

We'll be in PR for a week. One night in fajardo, a few nights in old san juan, and 2 nights in Rincon. Any suggestions on things to do, places to see and great local places to eat would be appreciated. we tend to like cultural and meeting the locals and non-touristy spots. :)

Also, does anyone have suggestions on reliable car rentals -- we'll have a car for a day or two, and then have a few days without a car, and then need to pick it back up for a few more days (in/out of san juan). Our AMEX covers liability (not collision) so any advice on insurance is helpful too.

Ponce has the best art museum in the Caribbean.

If you have the chance to go it should only be 1-1/2 hr drive fromm either Fajardo or San Juan.

Rincon is very small and no 5 star hotels there. The Ponce Art Museum is quite nice. I rented a compact 4 door Suzuki Alamo car at SJU last week for $164 all incl for 7 days. It was very clean, comfy and had only 2000 mi on it. My best SJU car rental yet. I saw no need for any additional insurance coverage.

Mr nice -- which car rental did you rent your car from -- and did you just happen upon the deal or have special coupons etc?

any other advice on PR would be much appreciated! thanks!

As I said I rented from Alamo as they now have newer cars in stock. Since I belong to Costco I also used a $20 off coupon from them. For PR info check you local library for books on PR or a "search" on FT or other better web sites. Good luck.
