Travel Technology - cingular easy update address change

there may or may not be a change to the cell phone easy update address for cingular users.

i had an issue with one not being rec'd but it was there when i checked on-line. i used the "test message" feature and i did not receive the test. i then tested by sending an e-mail from my computer to my phone and again no dice.

i called cingular and according to the rep, they have changed the address and after testing the new address from both easy update and my computer, it works so with that........

old:
mobilenumber@mobile.mycingular.com

new:

mobilenumber@cingularme.com

"now to set it up in easy-update:"now to set it up in easy-update:

chose you carrier = not listed (do not pick any of the cingular options)
leave the "carrier box" blank or put in cingular -- it doesn't matter
decide address = mobilenumber@cingularme.com

test it and it should work

For Cingular and anyone's carrier, use 10digitnumber@teleflip.com and you'll never have to worry about using a carrier-specific format again.

Is that for all companies, even the smaller one? Or just the "legacy" companies? ;)

Thanks goalie. I just followed your instructions and received the Easy Update test message successfully on my wireless using the new address.

I've also sent my own test e-mails to the old address and this new address on my wireless and only the new address came through.

That's a little bit annoying if the old one works no longer, since several relatives have our wireless e-mail address to reach us when we're out of the country, and I would have thought Cingular would have sent text messages or something to warn customers.:td:

Thanks again to you for offering this information.^

Cheers,
Fredd

Well, it was extremely helpful to me as a UA flyer, goalie, so don't feel too bad. :) I don't know how many other airlines offer the equivalent of Easy Update. If any thread deserved to be cross-posted, this one would qualify IMHO.

Cheers,

just to update...

it appears that the old: mobilenumber@mobile.mycingular.com appears to be working again......not sure if it's temporary or not but as of now it's working
