Travel Technology - Bluetooth on planes?

Does anyone know what TSA policy is on using bluetooth during flights? On Old Boeings they had that connexion internet service which is wireless, which seems similar to bluetooth (a stretch, i know).

Anyways, i was just wondering, since i have bluetooth headphones, and i want to know if i can use them in flight.

That is correct.

However, I know that some IFE hardware vendors and airlines are working on getting various 2.4GHz wireless technologies approved for use onboard - including WiFi in the cabin.

I know, I know, it is cumbersum, not intuitive and lists all sorts of combinations of the words punched in but....

Had you done it you might have found a thread with the same question (but for different gadget) started by myself not too amazingly long ago.

And the response was the same as now - No you can't use them.

I'd love to see Bluetooth type devices approved on aircraft; it would be neat. I won't hold my breath though. I just got a Treo 750. I've used the traditional, wired headset: the sound is phenomenal. I really like it.

Boeing recently gave up on wireless entertainment in the 787. It ended up being too complicated.

What seemed odd was that they said it added too much weight.

Delivering AVOD wirelessly to 300+ seats would be a challenge technically. But the kind of thing I know is being worked on elsewhere is WiFi web access and wireless controllers for AVOD/games.
