Easyjet managers will dress as tax collectors tomorrow (February 1) and explain to passengers why they have to pay additional air passenger duty (APD).
Late last year the government announced that APD would increase from £5 to £10 on domestic and European flights from the beginning of February, and the extra tax even applies to those with bookings made before the announcement.

What do tax collectors wear ? The stereotype of pinstriped trousers and a bowler hat is about 2 generations outdated.

In my experience of VAT and Inland Revenue inspectors/collectors they wear old shabby suits and, whatever they cover during the daytime, are punctilious in leaving the office at 4.15 each day. They are usually those with the bottom grades from Economics / Business Organisation degree courses who can't get a job elsewhere.

That was my question, I thought the UK tax collector had a uniform of some sort?
