I'm close to 1 million points - I would like to take my family (including Grandparents, brother and sister in law - their two kids) on a trip in August 2008 - I know far away. I was thinking Atlantis due to the proximity to NYC as all the kids will be under 4. Any ideas on places and best bang for my points. Many thanks.

I would avoid Atlantis - though your kids will love it the service is reported to be awfull. There are much better options from NYC.

Three or four. In the alternative, I would love to have access to a kitchenette with the babies so thinking of - two - two bedroom suites.....

1MM would be about 1 week in 2 penthouses (2BR, sleep 6, corner, walkaround balcony, rooftop jacuzzi) @ Le Meridien Sunny Isles, if you use SPG50 to cut rates in half to $550, (using 7K starpoints, which is 21K MR) and then using MR to pay at 1 cent per point, so about $10K bill = about 1MM MR

4.
transfer to 333K starwood and get
-4 rooms
-5 nights @ cat 4
-200K miles
-use 2-3K per night per room to upgrade to a higher category

Ack! Sunny Isles in August? They should pay you to stay here at peak hurricane season.
