American Express Membership Rewards - Kudos to Amex Platinum concierge

My son was in Munich this past weekend w/ his friends. He called the Platinum concierge line in the afternoon to see if they could get he and his buddies into the P1 club that night (Saturday). When they arrived at the club, they spoke to the contact name given, and he immediately escorted them past the folks waiting in line and into the club and to a VIP table.
Although I haven't been there myself, I understand that getting in is sometimes nearly impossible without some "pull".
Just thought I'd add something positive as it was well deserved by the Platinum folks.

No big deal really.
You can get into any high class/exclusive club if you book a table - which means spending quite a few bucks...
But theyre not bad in doing just guestlist either.

While that may be true in some clubs, I was told that booking a table at P1 doesn't necessarily get you past the bouncers at the door. My son didn't even have to deal w/ the bouncers.

jcherney, did your son book a table (requiring bottle service) or was he given one for free?

I don't know the answer to that. I'll ask him when I speak to him next and get back to you.

it didnt sound like he made such a reservation, and if he did receive a table for free, thats GREAT service from plat concierge..

reservations, tickets, in-demand / hard-to-find item sourcing.. seems hard to me NOT to find something to request at some point..

I'm actually quite surprised that the Concierge did it as Amex Germany didn't have any connections to P1 last time I checked, which is about 1.5 years ago. Nevertheless P1 is nice, but overrated imho. I tend to go there once a month or so, but just knowing a little insight (like a barkeepers name) or claiming to have some rests left in a bottle always gets you in - at least me.

Actually you dont have to pay for a table in p1, you only pay for the bottles you order.

you are REQUIRED to buy bottles with a table reservation.
if amex plat got a table with NO bottle requirement, that would be indeed be good work.

"if amex plat got a table with NO bottle requirement, that would be indeed be good work."
hehe, that wont happen.
But the requirement is only one bottle which for example could be a 0.5 litre vodka bottle with mixed drinks which will give you a bill of about 150 Euros.
You'll end up with around 250 for a 1 litre bottle with mixed drinks.
Not like in the US where you often have to buy atleast 2 or 3 bottles at 300 bucks each - or LA where you only have till 1:30 AM to drink them too! (so ridiculous)
