Hello peeps -
I'm heading to Vegas next week, if I place a super bowl bet and am not there after the game, and my bets win, how do I claim my winnings? Will they ship money out of state?
Thanks for the 411.

This should be moved to the Las Vegas thread. but on the back of your ticket will be instructions on how to claim your winning bet via mail. If you have any further questions, as them at the sportsbook.

Briefly, you'll usually have about 30 days to send in your winning ticket (recommended via REGISTERED mail). Here is the pertinent paragraph in the Nevada gaming regulation:
22.080 Payment of winning wagers.
1. Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, books shall make payment on a winning
wager to the person who presents the patron’s copy of the betting ticket representing the wager.
A book need not make payment to a person who the book or an agent or employee of the book
knows is not the person to whom the patron’s copy was issued. A book shall not make payment
on a winning wager to a person who the book or its agent or employee knows or reasonably
should know is collecting the payment on behalf of another for monetary consideration or in
violation of federal law.
2. Presentment of the betting ticket and payment of the winning wager may be made at an
affiliated book provided that:
(a) An adequate accounting of the payment is kept for 5 years by both books; and
(b) The payout is properly included in the computation of gross revenue of the licensee that
initially accepted the wager.
3. Books shall honor winning betting tickets for 30 days after the conclusion of the event
wagered upon unless a longer period is established by the book. The book shall state the
redemption period on each betting ticket, in house rules and on notices conspicuously placed
about the licensed premises. Payment by mail may be made only after presentment of the betting
ticket, and must be made not later than 10 days after presentment.
4. A licensed race book shall determine the winners of or payouts on wagers on horse and
other animal races only with information the book receives from licensed disseminators pursuant
to Regulations 20 and 21.
(Adopted: 7/85. Effective: 9/1/85. Amended: 6/86; 7/87; 11/98; 9/05.)

I placed two bets on the Tigers to win the American League and World Series back in June at the Flamingo. I finally got around to mailing the one winner in a couple weeks ago. There is a 120 day limit from the date of the event. The ticked said to send a self addressed stamped envelope, so I did. It also send it registered mail, but I thought that was a bit expensive to insure a $50 win. I got the check today from Harrahs. They did not use my envelope as it came as one of the "tear here" checks.
Sorry for bringing up an old thread...
I'm heading to Vegas next week and my buddy wants me to place a bet on his team to win the Stanley Cup. I've previously placed bets at a sports book for a single game but never one for the winner of a league championship.
- Can I still place a bet on who I expect to be the Stanley Cup champion, even though we're getting somewhat close to the midpoint of the season? Is there a cutoff date?
- Does it matter which Sports Book or is there preferrable Sports Books to go place this kind of bet?
TIA.

Each casino will have updated odds on a team's chance to win the Cup. You will be fine next week. As for where, it really does not matter than much. the LV Hilton highly regarded, but I used to get more comps from ironically, the Imperial Palace.
Just a follow-up.
Got around to checking a couple of SportsBooks and yes, it was pretty easy to place the Stanley Cup winner wager. Places had varying odds of course. Ended up placing the bet in the Palazzo SportsBook since that's where we were staying. Had higher odds than other places I checked and gave coupons for free drinks in the sportsbar that was off to the side.
