Hi all,

need advice with an issue with Europcar.

Upon returning a rental car at DUS on 10/26 I drove into another car on the parking lot (I wasn't paying attention). Nothing big on both cars. We made a damage for the sake of it and nothing until today.

Today, I received a letter from Europcar asking me to pay 550€ own contribution for the repair (again nothing big on both car). The basis for the invoice is a quotation dated 1/18!

First I don't want to pay the 550€ for not event a small dent (have nothing to prove it), second what proves that no other accident occured in between and third is a quotation enough? I mean there is not even a report from an expert.

Please give me advice.

Thanks

Hi matincdg,

I'm sorry to say that, but that's what your resposible for. And if you would give away your new cars, you would want them to be without any bumps or dents as well. As Europcar does give those cars back to the manufacturer with a buy-back-contract at a fixed price, both sides consist on perfect conditions of the cars.
And, I'm really no friend of Europcar. They have cheap rates, but poor service.
You should BTW be glad to have a lower (in comparison to other rental car companies) self contribution.
Best wishes,

I tent to agree with HA, I am no big fan myself, but rates are cheap, but then you get cheap service. Can I ask if you paid with a gold credit card or LH GOLD, or was the insurance included?? In these sort of situations it is always better to take a picture ( even with mobile) than you avoid the issue if the car has been bumped up later ( for the sake of it!)
