Does anyone know what fare class a CO BF ticket must be booked in for the 2for1 deal? Thanks.

The paid ticket must be full fare biz or fc.

Which is the #1 reason I won't upgrade to Platinum from Gold Rewards, despite the fact they fill my inbox up with requests constantly...

(#2 is that it appears most of the other rewards are only applicable to folks living in NYC...)

A similar thread is also running in the CO forum. As I posted there, this deal will actually save you some money if you normally purchase F tickets. Flying EWR-IAH-LIR-IAH-EWR next month, my husband and I are using the 2-4-1. We are paying $1600 for two tickets; regular fare on CO.com would have been $3500 for the same flights.

Whatever your reasons are for not upgrading your card, this shouldn't be one of them.

It's not quite full fare biz. Its a little less than that. My initial question, which still hasn't been answered is, what fare class (the letter that represents the type of fare) is necessary for the Amex 2-4-1?

Actually, I did answer your question on the CO thread. Our seats are booked in Z/D.

My experience has been that you can't really search online at co.com for the 2-4-1 availability. I used to think it was Z class you were looking for, but last summer, I was able to get 2-4-1 on CO from EWR-MSP, although co.com showed no FC availability at all in any fare class. Since upgrading to Centurion, I have ALWAYS been able to confirm 2-4-1 availability on CO.com.

I'm not sure why you hesitate to call Amex and let them do the searching -- you could be on the co.com website while you're on the phone and compare the prices.

I figured Z as well, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the info.

I don't hesitate to call Amex, I always like to check things out on my own first. I've been a Centurion member since the program was introduced. I've noticed over the years that the Amex travel agents are there to spend your money. They want you to spend more, so sometimes they will give you a higher price on something, even though there is a lower one with the exact same restrictions. It isn't entirely proper, nor will any agent admit it, but it happens.
