Hi all-

This forum is great and I help out whenever I can. I have found and used good deals / codes when renting from National in FLA but I cannot belive the prices I'm seeing in PHX. I'm an emerald member and always try to book National when the price is close. I've tried a lot of the AWESOME codes here to no avail. I'm holding a 6-day (early April) Full size from Thrifty for $220 all in. Can anyone recommend a code or suggest anyhting for a similar rate at National?

Much thanks

Are you sure that's $220 all in? I am holding a National reservation for 7 days @ PHX and there's almost $165 in taxes.

Yeah, I'm sure. Thrifty Full size (Charger or similar), 1 week, $149 + 75.33 taxes = estimated total of $225 USD. Guess I did alright for myself. Just thought there might be a code or something for PHX. A week in Vegas or Florida can be had much cheaper but no biggie.

Thx

I'm too lazy to search, but I think there was a thread here in the last couple of years about renting from a non-airport location in PHX and the taxes not being so cumbersome. Take a taxi to the location, rent the car and take a taxi back to the airport.

Don't rent from Thrifty in PHX. They're a franchisee, as all Thrifty locations are, and will try everything possible to find minor "damage" to bill you for (scratches and such that National, Hertz, and Avis consider normal wear and tear). Thrifty in PHX billed me over $300 for a new windshield (all covered by Visa's excellent free LDW, fortunately) when I returned the car with an 1/8" chip in the windshield.
