Searched for finest hotel in Seattle for a one night stay in March. Trip Advisor suggested Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle as did Conde Nast Traveler 2007 Gold List. The hotel's website listed least expensive rate as $339 for King NS. Looked in FHR book and Fairmont was listed. Called AmEx Plat Card Travel Service, due to inclement weather longer than usual wait times....blah blah blah, not staffed properly again. Waited on line for a bit, then spoke to very competent and professional travel agent (please dont ask for his name (Darryl) or extension #, I'd prefer not to have a busy signal when I call his ext direct). He ck'd rates, booked me a confirmed deluxe upgraded room, PLUS free breakfast, PLUS free dinner for two people, PLUS late check out for $297. WOW, this is first time in years that AmEx Plat Card Travel Service was less than travel sites on web. Darryl called the hotel and confirmed the package while I listened to the call (he did advise the reservation rep at hotel I was on line). He emailed me the complete itinerary within 30 minutes.

Darryl did a great job, I was pleasantly surprised. (Please dont email me if you find a better deal at this hotel, I'd like to bypass the subsequent buyer's remorse).

VFF,
Congratulations! My experiences have almost been invariably pleasant with FHR agents. I've even called back just to give props for making reservations so smoothly. Have fun.

I have used FHR 10 times in Vegas, PHX etc and each time the FHR rate was lower than the hotel's rate.
Nice work though ... I'd recommend you signing up for Farimont prez club before your stay.

I took the advice and signed up for Pres Club. Received email today from Pres Club with super low rates for members for select dates. Called Farimont and mentioned email. I was advised I could have one room at $139 per night (without the AmEx FHR perks) rather than the $297. The $160 savings was too good to pass up...

$158 for breakfast, 1 dinner, upgrade, late checkout

depends on how good dinner is, and if you got breakfast/dinner for 1 or 2
