Flying Blue (Air France, KLM, and Other Partners) - Is KL-MH better than AF-QF for routes between Europe and Australia?

Around Easter-time this year, I have to travel from ZRH to SYD in cattle-class, and am wondering whether it is better (in terms of earning Miles and lounge accesses) to travel either i) with AF-QF via CDG-SIN or ii) with KL-MH via AMS-KUL?
I hear reports that some AF-code shares with QF dont earn level miles for the SIN-SYD-SIN legs (which would be a shame) and that MH service is much better than QF.
So should I go for KL-MH? Thanks for any feedback.
do yourself a favour, in Y Singapore airlines is the way to go to Oz... miles or no miles... both KL and AF are nothing compared to SQ, MH comes close, but that will only be the shorter stretch (8 hours), better food, better service, better IFE, then I wouldn't even consider lounge acces or miles...

Not familiar with that route... but in any case, definitely prepare yourself and go for a BMI status match if you have any elite level on Skyteam or Oneworld... Then accrue the miles and have lounge access on Star Alliance and SQ! See the BMI forum for status match details...

Why? You can book the KL-codeshare on MH also on the longer stretch...
Fly Emirates!!!!
Last year I flew Cattle AF/QF to Oz - €50 more than Emirates but I thought "miles" I thought "Platinum Benefits", etc. Never again! Mrs Jsfr still has not forgiven me!
1) On QF segments - no Lounge Access
2) On QF segments - no extra luggage allowance
3) On AF segments the 777's are painful for a 12-13 flight even in the Elite section (compared to EK's A340's or SQ's &$&'s)
4) You do get miles (well, 25%) but boy do you have to fight for them
5) QF food....
6) AF IFE....
In Y class, you can fly MH from Europe to KUL to Australia. You will get 34" pitch, personal TV, fantastic service, a nice airport to transit in, and no level miles.
For me, the extra pitch in coach and the quality of service would outweigh AF&QF on that route. And those are your options if we are talking about SkyTeam.

I think MH is realy realy good.

But if you book under KL-codeshare the MH flights, don't you earn level miles too ?
There was a lot of speculation about this in the last year and I think the consensus was that you can't. Don't I wish that weren't the case!

Thanks to all for this feedback. Having investigated more in the KLM FB Partner Airlines section for MH, flying direct from ZRH to KUL wont earn level Miles, however flying MH-codeshare via AMS will earn 100% miles - this was indicated in the KLM Online booking tool. Also I used the AF website to research the route ZRH-CDG-SIN-SYD, and depending on the ticket class, it did state that approx 13,000 miles would be earned each way for Y....
So given all this, I might take my first trip on MH via AMS-KUL!
You'll be very glad you did. Enjoy flying MH, and make sure you leave time to see a bit of KUL, which is a great city.

...and don't delay. MH is still GREAT! but, MH has announced that they will be reconfiguring their Y cabin to improve density. Enjoy them before their cabins have been re-modeled for sardine canning following KLM's example!
