Do you have a short list of mileage programs you want this to happen for, or will just any miles do?
any program will be fine
the hardest part is finding a bank that will allow mileage/point credit for purchases done by check
united national(now united trust) in NJ allowed it untill a year or so ago
I think that another issue is that most banks treat check-writing as a cash advance so you may be subject to a fee and immediate interest accrual. It would be nice to find a mileage earning card that does not regardless of what type of miles are earned.
Good luck finding one. If such a card existed, anyone could get unlimited miles by simply writing checks to themselves!

Some time ago, First USA had a card with Sportmart, where you earned gift certs for sporting goods. The convenience checks earned points, and had no transaction fees or interest (if paid off in full). I wrote checks to an interest bearing account, and then used that account to pay off the bill. I got hundreds of dollars of sporting goods every month.
I was bummed when Sportmart dropped out.
Before FlyerTalk debuted, eh, VolleyballFerd?

Yes - and it was too bad, because I told lots of friends, even bought them lots of free stuff at Sportmart - and told them how to do it - but none of them ever signed up and did it. I know there would have been a lot of FTers who would have jumped on it.

Happens to me all the time. People ask how I get so much free stuff, but when I tell them it's always "too much trouble."
