Hilton HHonors - Best current offer for HH credit card?

Just got a notice from Hilton that my paltry amount of points will expire on March 1, 2007 (since I hardly ever stay at HIltons).

Apparently a good way to revive them is to get either (or both) the Amex and Visa HHonors card.

What are the best current offers on bonus and no annual fee for the two cards.

I have never had a Hilton card before. Have using Starwood and a variety of bank cards.

Thanks for your help.

I just ordered a Citibank HH Visa Signature card for 15,000 points from

http://hhonorscard.com/us/cards/cardserv/hhilton/home.jsp

You sign on to your HHonors account and it fills in most of the information for you.

I went with the Visa because I have 155,000 points and an trying to get to 175,000 points for the VIP Only HHonors rewards. Anyways, I already have a HHonors Amex Platinum. The HHonors Amex Platinum only gives 10,000 points initially then you can earn 10,000 with 4 stays. The HHonors Amex Platinum earns 5 points per dollar spent at Hilton. The HHonors Visa Signature earns 3 points per dollar spent at Hilton. Kinda depends if you will be using for stays at Hilton or just looking for some up front points.

Thanks for the info. I suspected there had to be a better deal than the 10K bonus I found on the HH website. :)

That way you take advantage of the "bonuses" both offer - and they are both no membership fee cards.

don't forget that this link (https://www201.americanexpress.com/cards/Applyfservlet?csi=4/12939/b/58/0620100015/062002414115/0/n&PID=1&EAID=EzI%2Ap8oPimU-CIoV42BY5fiQFAiGJX66Tw&CRTV=CCGHHP00001506&PSKU=HHP&afflSID=EzI%2Ap8oPimU) gives you 15k for signing up for an amex card.

if you apply for both, that's 30k easy points!

I tried this link and when I hit "apply", it bounced me. Any suggestions?

I just found a way to make it work. I went to the Hilton Honors web site, clicked on the Citi Visa Card and it gave me the screen about getting 15K points, even though the Hilton site only said 10K points. I applied and saved a copy of the 15K point offer, just in case.....

The Visa Card isn't as good of a deal as the Hilton AMEX card, so I'll be using AMEX first. However, when AMEX isn't accepted, I now have an option to the Chase United Mileage Plus Visa. I had a really bad experience with them on vacation over New Years. Someone attempted to charge some large purchase. Chase correctly declined that, but rather than contact me or anything, they just deactivated the card. When I called them, their phone support was awful -- they took forever to even let me talk (they had a zillion security questions many of which dealt with events greater than 20 years ago and which they had incomplete info on -- Example: "have you ever lived in Santa Barbara county?" -- the correct answer is "YES", but they had no record of it as it was quite a while ago.) But I digress. I'd just prefer to deal with CitiBank over Chase.

Thanks FTers for your useful and informative posts. I look forward to getting 30K HHonors points with the info here (as well as rescuing my expiring points).^

Patience, grasshopper. There is a green button at the BOTTOM of the page that says apply here. That button will link you properly. If not, try other areas that will allow you to click. Try it repeatedly, eventually you will be led to the correct link. Persistence. I just succeeded at both Amex and CitiBank applications using the links provided above. (I was doing it for a elderly friend).

Link just worked for me! I will probably only use the card for Hilton Hotel stays and places offering 5 points per $ spent. Devaluations at Starwood have forced me to look at other earning alternatives and the Hilton AMEX looks like a good alternative to the SPG AMEX.

My thoughts exactly!

I found the thread Hilton Amex - 50k Points!!! (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=602064) from last September and was so bummed I missed out on the 30K point bonus. :( Are bonus offers like that common for HHonors?

...just found out.

I waited almost exactly a year before reapplying. I called both citi and hhonors and they wouldn't give me another 15k bonus...
