Is anyone going to the opening gala next week? I had a tour when the hotel was ~ 3/4 redone. Looking forward to seeing the rest.
update - evening began with cocktail recep, then buffet dinner at multiple stations. Very nice, but nothing to write home about. The seafood station (which husband tried) had shrimp, lobster tails, crab legs, and raw oysters and clams. The shrimp were tasty; the raw shellfish smelled off. I only partook of the sushi station. Again, not fantastic (nothing exotic) but fresh.
We took advantage of the GO rate of $69. Check in was easy, were booked on the fourth floor. The hallway to the room was surprisingly chilly (may have had something to do with the winter that's finally hit us). The room itself was quite large, very comfortable. I did like the Lavazza pod coffee maker. We had three problems with our stay. The first was relatively minor, but... Shortly after we arrived, DH commented that the tv remote barely worked. At about the same time, the door was opened (without a knock) by Hilton personnel - who the apologized profusely. I mentioned the remote, she got on her walkie-talkie and left. We both took showers before the reception - the drain was very slow. Covered our feet. yukkado! When we went down to check in for the reception, I mentioned the two issues to the sales manager, who apologized and said she would take care of both. When we went back to our room after the soiree, the remote still didn't work (how hard is it to change batteries?). We decided to have breakfast delivered and filled out the door hanger. While it arrived at the appointed time, the tray was a) only for one, b) had no napkin, and c) no knife to spread things on the english muffin. Oh, and the drain hadn't been looked at either since we still had to shower in standing water.
When we checked out, I relayed all of this and was given a 'so sorry about that.'
I certainly don't expect anything as a result; I do however expect much more in the way of service especially considering this was part of a Grand Opening.
