Thanks also to the others in the Hertz forum here for their input on their DTW rental experience!
Too bad that Detroit doesn't have any thrifty stuff there besides the auto show downtown at the cobo center!

Glad to see the Hertz @ DTW cleaning up their act. I've been their biggest critic for poor service, dirty cars and less than friendly employees. They've gotten better the last couple of visits there.
As far as 'thrifty' things to do in Detroit may I suggest ....
- Detroit Zoo (Best Arctic animal exhibit in the world)
- Henry Ford Museum / Greenfield Village
- Greektown (Casinos, restaurants, shops)
- Detroit Science Center.
- Motown Studio Tour
- Detroit Historical Museum
- Detroit Institute of Arts (for the Diego Rivera Mural in the lobby alone)
- Coney Island Hot Dogs at Layfette Coney Island.
- RenCen (Visit GM world while you're there).
- Woodward Dream Cruise (In August.. AWESOME)
