Last friday my delayed LAX-TUS finally arrived slightly past midnight.
Long story short, a guy at National counter flat out refused to honor my rate (no discounts other than website e-coupon).
I walked straight to Hertz and within a few minutes booked a long weekend rental using free weekend certs and on top of that upgraded to Infinity FX with navigation for only $15/day. ^
The agent was very friendly, noted my 5* status right away; we joked a little about delayed flights and waiting for late arriving passengers and I was off to drive around AZ. The return was just as pleasant, all numbers were in and correct I didn't have to ask to add or remove anything, just the way things should work (but rarely do).
Undoubtedly the most pleasant car rental experience I've ever had anywhere.
Big ^ ^ ^ to TUS Hertz staff, I'll be back next time.
