Wow. I've been wondering for a while when another carrier would show up in Louisville. Although I was hoping it might be AirTran or JetBlue, I'm glad at least there is someone new.

This wasn't a surprise following F9's new agreement with Republic Air. Republic has a maintenance base here and thus these planes can come in for overnight service here.

Do you think this will impact the fares of other carriers at SDF, and if so, how much? Maybe people from similar sized airports with a recent new carrier will be able to share their impressions on that.

I'm not expecting much change. There's already quite a bit of low-fare competition in SDF with WN.

True, but I am generally amazed at how much cheaper IND is than SDF. I was trying to think if IND had any more carriers than SDF, and the only one I can think of is Frontier, so I'm hoping that can help lower prices, if even just a little bit.

i'm surprised of the SDF announcement. i thought republic would replace horizon on an existing route before starting new.

I would think this route allows them to rotate planes into maintenance at SDF, where Republic has a base.
