Hilton HHonors - What to do with 20k HHonors?

Hey all !

Have 20k HHonors points and no clue what to do with it :(

Checked properties for redeeming but nothing interesting available.

Any ideas ?

You could always get a night at a Hampton Inn in Iowa.

I guess you have a few choices:

1. Wait for some point-stretcher dates to open up (but that is a long shot).

2. Choose a less-expensive proprty to stay at (in terms of points required for a free nght). The HHonors website will allow you to search by award level.

3. Use the points to buy movies or save on meals and room nights. NOTE: According to the HHonors website, value points are going away after Feb. 28, 2007. However, once redeemed are valid thru year end '07.

You could try coupon connection to exchange for points on a program with properties that do have availability useful to you.

I have ~200k HH points accumulated over ~10 years, and have only once ever found availability for what I want, when I want it. OTOH, I am able to spend PC points almost as fast as I earn them.

Exchange 10k AA miles for 20k HHonors points ($25 charge). This will give you a much wider range of hotels to choose from.

I've booked many Hiltons for 20K although recently many just went to 25K. Hampton Inn's often have this but also do look for business hotels on weekends. The new Hilton BWI just offered point stretchers of 20K through most of December.

Other thing is if you have 5K Continental points you can exchange them to Amtrak Guest Rewards and then presto you will have more Hilton points ASAP without a fee and a 1 to 2 transfer and will be in your account in 2 weeks.

The AMEX Hilton card is also great, free, 10K points for 1st charge, 2.5K for first four stays and 500 points booking bonus (including free nights).
