Washington D.C. (including Baltimore) - New Mid-Field Terminal At IAD

Has there been any conversation about razing the UA facilities at IAD and building a new mid-field terminal, much like NW did in DTW? I have recently started using IAD quite a bit and it is fairly silly to operating an International Hub from that type of a facility.
Does UA take the lead on something like that or does the airport?

Moving this to the Washington, D.C. forum since it is not totally UA-related.

That's all you had to say - I'm all in favor of it, 101%. ^

Eventually as in, global warming is not a problem because EVENTUALLY, the sun will start to burn out and it will get colder and then EVENTUALLY everything will freeze up and die :)

Well they took down Terminal G b/c it was on the pad site for the new terminal ... they are very slowly making progress in that direction. Of course, the train will be there and no building will be available or the train will go to C/D because of the delays and will never get extended to the new terminal building, should it ever get completed.

Check out the map at http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/d2_dulles_development_2/d2_home. You will see that the currrent train construction has a station somewhat past the current C Concourse. That station will temporarily serve the current C Concourse and eventually serve the new C concourse. The other end of the train line (which will NOT connect to the current D Concourse) will be extended to connect to new concourses yet to be built.

Keep in mind that C/D was a bunch of trailers umpteen years ago designed to be a temporary solution until a more permanent model could be conceived.
Then all the muckety-mucks got together and engineered a horse into a camel, which means we're still 2 years from a reasonable train system.
"D2", as it's affectionately referred to, does not even include a date for C/D transformation or demolition at this point.
Based on the information I've seen, I would estimate it will be 8-10 years before we have a new C/D.
However, you do have the extension of B to look forward to. :)
