Hello all -
Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer Amex points to a relative's ANA account (the last name would not be the same)? I know some partners are stricter on this than others.
Thanks!

Yes, it is possible. Go to the MR site, click on the left on "Frequent flyer - guest programs, click on add a link, enter your aunt's first and last name and account number in the spaces provided and click on link. MR will state that it can take up to 5 days to link to domestic airline accounts and up to 2 weeks for international accounts. However, my experience with domestic links is that it is almost immediate, at least on DL. In any case, you will get an email when the account is linked or you can check back on the "frequent flyer - guest programs" page to see if your aunt's account is marked "linked". When it is, click on "transfer" and then follow the directions to transfer as many of your MR points as you desire to your aunt's account. You will get an email from MR telling you when the miles have been entered in your aunt's accounts with a copy of the transaction for your records. Good luck.

It may be helpful to know if your Membership Rewards account is administered in the UK, Australia or in the USA as the rules and procedures may differ.
I have tried to do the same to both ANA and BMI with my UK card and both times the transfers did not work.

Thanks very much for the responses. It is a US-based card. I'll let you know how it works out.
