Hi people thinking of going to Singapore in September, just need some opiinions... Are the economy seats any good? I mean for a long flight from London to Singapore you hope seating would be good..

So for all that have flown on economy on Singapore on long haul...whats it like?

On top of that whats the inflight services and stuff like?

We have flown with Emirates...and love them...there seating in economy is big...i think there seat picth is 34''?

Thanks People!:)

Considering I don't know where you'd be coming from, I'll give you a vague answer. I don't have a problem with the SQ Y seats. As for seat pitch, SQ generally has 32"-34" and 17"-17.5" seat width. It's all dependent on what plane you have.

Also, LAX and EWR nonstops have different seats as well.

There's one row in the 747 where they cram in an extra seat even though there's not really room (and no other airline has a seat there) by ripping off one arm. Row 60, I think, the one-armed window-seat, avoid.

the 747's are not very good, 32 inch seat pitch.
I find it a bit ironic that flights from Syd to Sin are all on 747 with the tight seating, and when I transfer to another SQ flight to elsewhere in Asia, you end up with more spacious seating, even though it is a shorter regional flight!

I suspect London would be served by 747's?

im on the heavy side so i will agree with you and say flying coach on ek has been much more gratifying than cx. but now even i am making the move over to sq (they service all my major destinations).

my 2 cents.

Hi Deeps

I fly 6 times a year in economy from lhr-syd or syd-lhr and the airline I use is Singapore air.

I think they have the best economy service in the air,

Advantages

Hot towel service, great AVOD entertainment system, nice food( well for on a plane) great choice of drinks including the singapore sling, constant walk rounds with soft drinks and nice red juicy apples half way through the flight ow and toilets that get cleaned during the flight.

I usually sit in seat 62k as the seat in front to the left is missing so you can spread you legs out in front of you and its part of a 2 seat row.( can be pre selected most times if you book online)

I think compared with emirates singapore air does not fit as many seats in each row although pitch is 32" on the 747 from london.

anyway i have got to wait untill March before i can return to the sun in Australia and will of course be flying singapore air

hi

Yeah i was also thinking of maybee using one of those seats...But do you mind beaing seated right at the back of the aircraft? I dont know what its like, we ussualy go for seats right behind business etc?

Also is it not true that you get more turbalance being seated at the back etc?

Hi there,
6 times a year in Y class for such long distance flight, phew.
I flew 5 times to Europe last year (from SIN), twice to LHR and three times to FRA in Economy and I thought it was a lot ! :)
My ambition now is to either find a job that doesnt require me to travel or at least travel my J class for long haul flights !!

Back to the topic...the economy service of SIA is alright..but the seats are definitely crampy, for someone who is tall.

I have tried most seats and the advantage of the ones at the back is u can reserve them online when you book your ticket. Of course you can still request emergency exit seats at the airport or ring reservations and you might ger lucky.

As for turbulance i understand the back of the plane flexis a bit more but i have never really noticed it being that much different .

Yes i know how you feel but as i pay for the flights myself cant justify the extra cost for business class.

Do save my miles though for upgrading and even got an op up last year on sin-lhr route, first time in Raffles and was a great experiance.
