I booked through the US site and used my American Airlines CDP 217692 to book a corolla verso( actually received a Nissan X-trail) for 2 weeks in CPT over christmas.

The rate worked out at about £13 a day with no coverage.

seconded, if you ever want no insurance just book it from the US site.

Though sometimes with the careful use of CDP codes you can get the uk rate including insurance for a very similar price, IIRC the centurion code gives you 20% off? -sometimes these codes intended for uk use totally mess up on the US site, so try all combinations.

Thanks for the info, certainly getting a slightly cheaper rate on the US site but on £40 cheaper and that's only if I book a pre-pay rate. I seem to be getting quoted about £20 a day for a Toyota Corolla, I might call Hertz.

Is the US site www.hertz.com and selecting country of residence US?

I might try the Centurion CDP but don't know what it is, I'll give them a call in the morning unless you know what it is off the top of your head?

Thanks,

Phillip

Are you sure you are getting on the US site, i've never been qouted a pre pay rate on there.

My order of events is go to hertz.com(automatically takes me to UK site), log in to my Hertz gold account, then change my country of residence to US.

If i log in to my Hertz account after changing my country of residence it reverts me to the UK.

Thanks for everyone's help, I still can't get that to work. Absolutely nothing makes a difference, in fact, every CDP number I try simply makes the booking MORE expensive! I tried calling but they told me it was the best rate available.

£13 would be a great rate, I'm getting quoted £40 per day for the car you mention, without insurance.

I have a complaint letter to write to the MD of Hertz (Neil Cunningham) about another issue I'm having, I think I will include this and hope he gets back to me before we fly.

One last thought, I don't suppose you have a rental record number for the booking you made that you would be prepared to PM to me? I can give them a call and ask why someone I know got a better rate. Actually, if you get a chance to look at the receipt online does it show a rate code? Perhaps I could try that as an alternative but don't worry if you can't or would rather not.

Otherwise I'm giving up, I must have cost me more in time by now than I will have saved if I get a better rate anyway.

Thanks,

Phillip
