Starwood Preferred Guest - London, Paris, Florence SPG Plat expectations?

Anyone with recent experience at the Park Tower, London; Westin Paris; Westin Excelsior, Florence with a SPG Platinum upgrade?

Will be there in June with the whole family, 5 nights in each using the points on the 4 night 5th night free award program and am wondering what to expect with my platinum. Suites? Better rooms? I have never travelled using awards in Europe with platinum and dont know what to expect.

From my experience of having a Platinum card for 4 years, the European hotels are generally more accomodating than the US. I've just got back from a 2 week vacation in the US and had to fight at almost all the hotels to get a decent room (although I appreciate it was Xmas). Stayed at the Park Tower a few weeks ago and they upgraded us to the Butler floor which includes free breakfast, bottle of champagne, butler service etc. This is the second time this happened at this hotel. If they have suites available they will upgrade (or that's what they told me). Not stayed in the other properties but as I said from my travels around Europe vs the US, Europe generally comes out more on top. I think its because there are less Platinum members over here than in the US. You've chosen some great hotels in great cities, so you'll have a wonderful time. Enjoy!

Take a look on like page 2 or page 3 of this forum. I just recently posted my experience as a plat at the Westin Paris. In short, I got great treatment from them and would be happy to answer any specific questions you might have.

I've stayed at the Westin in Florence twice as a plat. The first time we were initially given a river view room...nice sized, but it was during their 2003 heat wave when people were literally dying. The radiant heat coming in even with the metal shutters closed was unbearable so we requested a move.

We were given a courtyard room on floor one that was huge. So on our second trip we requested this same room. We didn't get the exact room but got one just like it on another floor.
