Las Vegas - Skyhigh LAS Room Rates 16-19 Feb 07

I just finished a great few days in Las Vegas last week and decided to go back for my birthday. On this trip I was at the Venetian for $239 for their standard room (27-30 Dec). The same room for the Feb trip would be $699. I understand it is a 3-day weekend (President's Day) but I was there last year for President's Day weekend and only paid $300 (at the Venetian). What could account for the huge difference this year? I am re-evaluating my plans for Feb now because of the hotel room costs. All the casino hotels are sky high for this time period. Thanks for any comments.

Las Vegas to Host All-Star 2007

I am actually flying in on the 18th for a conference at Bellagio. Was going as late as possible because I get back to LA from Asia on the 14th, but maybe I need to go earlier now!

Now that makes sense. I heard that LV was hosting the All Star Game but didnt realize it was that weekend. Thanks for the info. I guess I will choose a different location for my birthday.

We're going 19th - 23rd, lucky choice it seems.

Is Las Vegas busy in January. It is hard to find a good rate on the strip in the superior type properties

Dpenends on what weekend. It is crazy now through next week (Consumer Electronics Show leading into the Adult Video Awards - 150,000 people). Week of the 22nd there is an 85,000 attendee World of Concrete Expo, which could impact some hotels. There is also a pretty big home furnishings show the last week in January (62,000 people). And then the next weekend is the SuperBowl - which is also a busy time.

Stuff like the NBA All-star game will not show up, but you can always search the convention schedule at http://www.lvcva.com/meetings/convention-calendar.jsp to see what is happening in Vegas.
