I think by now most of the 2006 Escalades have been replaced with the new models.

Sweet!

Has anybody seen them at ORD?

We rented a H2 over christmas and there were two black ones parked right next to us.

Thanks Tummy. For an upcoming rental in February, I figure I'm going to get a QX56, a Surburban, or an Escalade. If all of those are T6s.

I hope it's the latter. ;)

Depending upon what you want it for, I saw a slew of new Escalades in Downtown Chicago for some reason. They didn't turn any heads.

You can specifically reserve the QX56 or Escalade as they are a "Prestige Collection" vehicle. Not sure about the Suburban, but I'm sure that has a lower rate than the other two.

Cool.

I tried specifically reserving the Escalade at ORD, but it doesn't come up. The Yukon XL came up, so I reserved that. I didn't see the QX56 available either.

Should I call the Gold desk?

And what downtown location was this, State Street or West Loop?

Thanks.

The Escalade shows up if it's available. Hertz changed the website recently, so I think it's listed as "Luxury Elite SUV Automatic Air" for some reason.

The GMC Yukon is a lower class, so you will probably not get an Escalade as a free upgrade if you booked that.

T6
Tummy's right in that the Escalade and the QX56 are classed as Prestige collection vehicles.

in the past when i've booked a T6, i've always been given one of Suburban, Yukon XL (same as Sub) or an Escalade. I've never gotten an QX56 as a T6 booking.

I am Five Star.

Appreciate the info guys. I went ahead and booked both of them, just in case. I'll call and cancel one of them as soon as I see which one I want or not.

Man, what class is above T6 then?

I don't see how a QX56 is of higher "prestige" than a brand new Escalade.

I'm 5 star as well, but we'll see if that means anything.

Does anyone know if LAX has the 07 by now ?

Thanks in advance.

They're all over the place at LAX -- I don't think I've seen a last-generation for model for at least a month or two now...

Hi,

first thanks for the answer.
Do you mean at hertz, or in general ? I booked one for beginning of May, and i was wondering if it was the new shape or not. If not, i would book the Q7 or whatever (Too bad they don't have the A8 anymore, it was cool last year)

I'm not sure about other companies, but specifically for Hertz at LAX, I have not seen any "old" models for at least a month or so. Every Escalade I've seen for the past few weeks have been new models, so you have a very good chance.

If you're really concerned about it, I would give them a call a day or two before to make sure you get one of the '07 models. The number is (310) 568-5100 -- try calling in the afternoon for the Gold desk, they're less busy than later in the evening, and the staff at that time IMO is really nice about special requests. ^

Hi,

rented one, funny car (not to be compared to my Aston V8 but whatever...)

Had one from LAX a few weeks ago as well -- they are nice trucks, but the Escalade IMO doesn't entirely justify its premium. The drive is not unlike that of a Tahoe or Yukon, which isn't suprising considered they all share GM's large truck architecture (GMT900). In fact, the Tahoe and Yukon are already drive well enough that the Cadillac just doesn't feel all that more special in comparison. The interior of the Cadillac's two downmarket cousins are already pretty high-quality as well.

Overall, I think I still prefer the Range Rover when it comes to premium SUVs. The upcoming LX570 from Lexus sounds like it'll be quite nice, as well.
