Flying Blue (Air France & KLM) - FD / AF miles gone, difficulties contacting KLM/AF

Hello,
I used to be a member of Flying Dutchman and Air Frequence Plus. I once even had elite status in FD, but I have not used the accounts for a while. A few months ago, I tried to check my FD account, but found out that FD does not exist anymore. I would have assumed that my account should have been converted to a Flying Blue account, but I never received mail about this.
I tried to call Flying Blue, but did not manage to get to talk to a human being, the system kept asking me for a Flying Blue number. I also sent a fax to the Flying Dutchman helpdesk, and a letter to Flying Blue, to no avail.
What would you recommend? It seems that KLM and Air France want to ignore me, but I would rather not, since I had miles for one or two free flights on my old KLM account. ;)
best regards and many thanks
bernhard

Welcome to FlyerTalk, bscbscbsc.

The FD miles in your account were supposed to be converted to FB, and many of us received a new ten-digit FB number that was based on our FD number. Try taking your old FD number, changing the first digit to "8" and the last to "3" and see whether that works when the robot asks for your FB number.

Or perhaps someone can tell you whether there is a way to determine your FB number from your old F+ number. I don't know if there is an algorythm for that - maybe they kept the old F+ number?

If that doesn't work, you'll have to try to find a human being to talk to. Perhaps someone will post (or PM) a number that actually reaches a real human being without having to first enter a valid FB number.

Unfortunately, getting a response from Flying Blue seems to be very difficult. I have two letters out there right now that are awaiting a reply, and I've flatly given up on sending e-mails since I'm convinced they are never read (or are deleted with a chuckle of disbelief that people are still sending e-mails).

Just keep trying . . . .

The old Frequence Plus number has generally remained the same as that currently used by Flying Blue if that is of any help.

Call FB Canada - they seem to be the most heplful (and easiest to reach).

Thanks Counsellor, thanks GVA! I have tried as you suggested, unfortunately it did not work either. I have the feeling that they have simply erased me from their database. It's frustrating, in particular since I remember calling FD a few years ago, and being told that my FD miles don't expire. I wonder whether they are legally entitled to just take away my miles (since that's what they effectively have done).

Erik: I have tried canada, but it did not work today, will try again during the next days.

your miles remain valid for another 1.5 years, so there is no risk in loosing them at this time. My wife didn't receive a new FB card either, but it was no problem to actually find out the new number and get them to send a real card. Merging of accounts should also be no problem.
Go with FB in Canada if you can, at least to find out the two FB numbers; maybe they can merge the accounts as well.

Almost right!

AFAIK (and that's certainly how it worked with us) the algorithm was:

- The first digit (formerly 1, 2, 3 or 4 depending on level) is now 8, as you rightly say

- The last digit was increased by 1.

My old number ended in 5, it now ends in 6.
My other half's old number ended in 1, it now ends in 2
