Travel Technology - Shure E500PTH vs Shure e4C's worth the upgrade?

I'm a huge shure fan, owned the e3c's, upgraded to the e4c's which I'm in love with but am drooling over the new E500PTH's... granted a $499 cost for them is the drooling stopper. I don't consider myself an audio geek and don't know if i'd be able to tell the difference between the upgraded one.

Any input from those who've gone from the e4c's to the E500PTH's? The iPod is $300 and the headphones at $500... I encode most of my music at 128k so thinking that if i got them, i'd have to upgrade my music selections to 192k or higher for the difference...

Feel bad for my e3c's... they don't get any more love with the e4's always jamming away...

what's the market for used e3'c? Thanks all

I moved from the e4c's to the e500PTH. Using the stereo system in the store where I bought the e500, I noticed a real difference in the sound quality. On my iPod, I can't tell the difference. And the PTH gadget is more of a pain than anything else. It adds a bunch of wires and bulk and you can't hear a person talking to you unless they're right next to you. I'd save your money.
