US Airways Dividend Miles - Last minute rush to requalify!

Hi,
I have been a Silver-level elite member since 1999 (first on America West). This year I'm going to end up on December 27 with exactly 24,200 miles.
Is there any alternative way for me to get the 800 miles I'll be missing to requalify, other than to take a last minute flight? For example, can I buy them somewhere, or take one of US Air's incentive offers (credit card?) to earn 800 elite-qualifying miles? Or am I looking at a December 28 round trip from my home base (PHX) to another short hop (LAS?) and back to make sure I requalify?
Thanks in advance for any replies!

If you make a purchase on FTD.com you can get 20 miles per dollar spent and they count as miles towards earning status. Do a search for the threads about this topic. They should include all the details.

Right, so I just figured this out at about the same time you were posting that reply, thanks.
So I placed an order online from FTD, completed the order, and the checkout/confirmation page says I earned 1,000 points. Is there anything else I need to do, or was it really that easy?
Do the FTD miles really take 6-8 weeks to post to your US Air account?
:D sorry for all the dumb questions. Thanks again for the replies.

FTD points usually take 2 weeks to post. EQM are awarded for activity date, not posting date, so you're 2007 status will benefit, not the 2008 status.

Just to clairfy...the miles post retroactively to the delivery date. So, even if you are getting 1000 miles but didn't schedule delivery until 1/3, the miles won't count towards 2007 status. You have to have the delivery date prior to 12/31 to get them credited for 2007 status!
J...the miles post retroactively to the delivery date.Does anyone know how the delivery date thing works when what you ordered was a year of flowers with the first delivery being 12/27. Will all miles post then or will only 1/12th come now and the other 1/12ths each month through CY 2007?

So one can actually get quite a headstart for 2008? The calendar on the FTD website allows you to specify a delivery date until the end of March. If someone has friends/relatives with birthdays in the first few months, this could be very benficial indeed. And don't forget about Valentine's Day!

Doesn't "everything counts" end 12/31/06? You can get miles for 2007 calendar year, but they will not count towards 2008 status.

debbieb,
If what natas43 said in reply #5 above is correct, then this is how I came to understand it, unless this means that all orders placed for delivery after 12/31will earn no points, preferred or otherwise. This would really stink as I ordered several items slated for delivery after the New Year as the recipients were travelling. So, the question becomes, if orders are placed by 12/31 but are not to be delivered until January, do the miles count towards 2007 status, 2008 status, or not at all? What have you heard? Thanks!

My one FTD order has not posted yet (ordered 12/13/06), so I don't know how they show the "activity date". In any case, you will not get credit towards 2008 status. The "everything counts" promotion is only for 2007 status. FTD is a partner, like Hilton and Avis, you would still earn dividend miles no matter what, the question is if they will count towards preferred or not. If they show your order's "activity date" as December 2006, they would count towards 2007 preferred. If they show the "activity date" as January 2007, you would still get miles but they would not count as preferred.
