Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - ALAMO Rent A Car -- Little things = Big Frustrations...

I have three one-day rentals at the moment. Between yesterday and today, both my husband and I have called Alamo and ended up with nothing but FRUSTRATION

Issue 1: I have a rental that I wanted to change my pick up from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. (shortening my rental duration). Online, I was unable to do this -- the system treats it like a new reservation. The system would immediately tell me there were NO RENTAL CARS AVAILABLE AT THIS LOCATION  So there was no way to alter it without phoning them and praying that they wouldn't make a mistake and jeopardize the reservation and price I had -- since clearly cars were sold out. Should've been simple but it wasn't...luckily I did get it changed. I was afraid if we showed up at 10 a.m. (when our flight arrives) instead of 8 a.m. they would tell us the car had been given away.

Issue 2: I told my husband since all three reservations were w/Alamo to call and give them his FF# because I couldn't find anywhere to enter it on their site. The lady (from India) was very confused about what he wanted to do and very confusing about the answers she gave him. In the end, she entered it on TWO of the three reservations and told him she couldn't add it to the third, he would have to do it at the counter. NO reason for this....it is just a local reservation (LAX)... Now we have to try and remember to do it after a long travel day when we arrive back home.

Issue 3: We are picking up a car tonight (7 pm) and decided we'd rather pick it up tomorrow a.m. (again shortening our rental period). I am unable to modify the reservation online  It sees it as a 'new reservation' instead of a change to (ie. shortening of) an existing reservation. I called in and the man (from India) told me he cannot change it -- my rate would go from $37 to $132  I tried telling him that is ridiculous because I am only shortening the rental period. No go....we have to keep the time we have or pay $132 if we come go tomorrow a.m. for our car.

None of this makes any sense :( All of these issues were simple things and none could be accomplished with their MODIFY RESERVATION option and all were complicated when you got an agent :td:

Does everyone have this hard of a time dealing with ALAMO???

While Alamo is often a pain in the neck, as to issue #1, I wouldn't have even tried to change the pickup time. As far as I know, all the car rental companies, even Alamo, hold your car at least 4 hours past the scheduled pickup time.

Good to know for the future. Didn't want to risk it when no cars were available at the airport if anything went wrong.
