Do *A awards allow domestic connections? i.e. For an award on NZ, would a connection from NSN to AKL to make the international flight be included?

I know that for THAI awards the answer is yes. IE, you can book an award CNX-BKK-LHR return.

I don't know about THAI *A awards, but I see no reason why not provided that the number of stopovers (1 each way?) is not exceeded and so on.

That's exactly what I did (paid BKK-LHR-BKK) but connect to a domestic award flight (LHR-BKK-CNX-LHR). You could easily check-thru from LHR and get 2 boarding passes from there (the 2nd one BKK-CNX had no ROP number printed on it because it's a free flight - no mileage accural).

Updating my own thread in case someone searches for this in the future.

On January 4th, a TG rep in Australia told me the answer was no. i.e. For a ROP *A award on NZ, the domestic flight would have to be with "Air New Zealand Link" rather than "Air New Zealand" and the former is not in the *A.

On January 5th, a TG rep in New Zealand told me the answer was yes, and successfully booked the award tickets accordingly; NSN-AKL-BNE-CHC-NSN being the bext option available. The only theoretical proviso was no stopovers, but in saying that she had quoted one version of a route that required one - last evening flight NSN-AKL, first morning flight AKL-BNE.

The moral? Keep asking until someone gets you what you want?
