We've had this thread for the past several years and it is always interesting to see what fellow FTers have been flying in the past year. Since 2006 is almost at an end and many of us have likely finished our travel for the year, it is time to lauch the 2006 version.
I'll go first. 2006 was my first year as a business traveler and it was, as you cna see, a busy one. I flew 191,294 flown miles on 17 different airlines:
I had 81 nights over 31 stays at Starwood Hotels (plus stays at Hyatt, Embassy Suites and Marriott properties).

Wow...very impressive. I never keep track of my flights or hotels, and I've never been a great journal-er, but I admire people who do. I know a certain Flyertalker who has a database of every flight he's taken. I should though...I can hardly remember yesterday. :)

Thanks to the BA97 calendar, my flights are all here (http://www.ba97.com/ba97/calendar/report.asp?handle=PhilH&filter=2006)!
And here's the Great Circle map (http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=lhr-muc-lhr%2Clgw-dub-snn-dub-lgw%2Clhr-bah-doh-bah-doh-bah-lhr%2C+lhr-sin-syd-chc%2C+zqn-chc-wlg-akl-syd-bkk-lhr%2C+lhr-muc-lhr%2C+lhr-gla-lhr%2C+lgw-ath-lgw%2C+lgw-edi-lhr%2C+lhr-bos-lhr%2C+lgw-vno-lgw%2C+lhr-muc-lhr%2C+lgw-szg-lgw%2C+lgw-mla-lgw&RANGE=&PATH-COLOR=&PATH-UNITS=mi&SPEED-GROUND=&SPEED-UNITS=kts&RANGE-STYLE=best&RANGE-COLOR=&MAP-STYLE=)!
And here are my travel awards for the year (from a similar thread on the BA board).
This is fantastic. I will post mine this weekend... I have been flying lax-jfk almost every week... And next year the same.. Would love to meet up with other flyertalkers on a future flight... Have a great holiday season and Happy New Year to all...

Most memorable moment on a flight: The announcement from the maitre de cabin on flight LX 2990 on March 31st after landing at BSL: "Ladies and Gentlemen, this was the very last flight for our Swiss Travelclub-members. We hope to welcome you on board soon with our new frequent flyer program, Miles & More".
Best flight/Worst flight: All flights (except the above mentioned) were "business as usual", so nothing to write about here...
Outlook for 2007: The first year I have to requalify for M&M SEN, so 130'000 miles to fly. Will I reach it?
Wish for 2007: That no airline follows the bad example of Emirates who introduces cellphone-coverage on board. At least LH and LX have both announced that they will not do it.
Most Memorable Flight : The inaugural service from Johannesburg aboard Ghana International Airlines, featuring a water cannon salute on departure among other fanfare. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v7We2Z1w5I)
Most Comfortable Flight : Paris to Mumbai in Air France's new L'Espace Premiere.
Most Uncomfortable Flight : A redeye Accra to Nairobi flight in the non-reclining last row middle seat of a Kenya Airways 763.
Honorable mention : Almost 10 hours in a 29" pitched Thomas Cook charter A330 between Gatwick and Vancouver.
Most "Questionable" Flight : TAAG Angola Airlines on a 747-300 Combi from Luanda to Johannesburg. A very umm... different experience.
Most Coincidental Experience : Winding up seated in the same row as 2 friends on a British Airways flight from Gatwick to Manchester.

How do you guys keep track of all your trips? If I tried to plug all my trips into the Great Circle Mapper it would just be a blur. I think I did 6 RTW's. Or was it 7? The websites says I did 167,256 paid miles with the Star Alliance and 130,233 with Skyteam and a handful of Cathay and BA flights with Oneworld. Plus I did a long multi-city Asia trip with award tickets.
Also I have maybe 15-20 thousand BIS miles in flights that never credited thanks to United and Lufthansa pointing fingers at each other and refusing to deal with their mess. :td:
This year with the crazy security mess at airports I did far more train trips than ever. Over 100 train trips in Europe (not counting metro). Despite improvements in the Eurostar, SNCF and Cybelis frequent traveler programs and websites, I'm not going to try to count them or cut and paste all those in here.
For hotels I did...
84 nights with IC,
70 nights with Starwood,
roughly 25 nights with Mandarin Oriental
16 nights with Hyatt
Roughly 10 nights with Sofitel and a few with other Accor hotels
About 10 with Four Seasons
A few with Hilton
dozens with non-chain hotels
AND I'M NOT DONE YET! I still may pop down to South Africa between Christmas and New Years.
Best City Hotel: The newly renovated Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong
Best Resort Hotel: Mandarin Oriental Chaing Mai
Most disappointing hotel: Four Seasons Singapore
Worst overall hotel: Any hotel in Las Vegas
Best flight: I think KQ NBO-AMS was my best experience
Worst flight: I only took one Ted flight this year so DEN-LAS is an easy choice

While my business travel didn't begin until just after graduation in June, I actually started out the year on a series of interview trips. Or what were supposed to be interview trips. In the end, I got the job I had been gunning for in LA and instead got to enjoy an LAX-BOS,PHL-LAX MR/vacation. I didn't have anyone to see in Philly, but why waste the ticket, right? Little did I know that my choice to fly United on that trip would have such a great impact going forward.
I had my first business trip on my 4th day with the new company, though to be fair, I didn't buy the ticket. However, when I realized I would be on United, I scrounged up the MP# I had signed up for before my Philly trip and milked that LAX-DEN r/t for all it was worth. A free bump into E+ for little ol' GM xj and I was hooked.
Two weeks later, when it was time to start booking my own fares for training and first project, I made the delightfully uneducated choice to fly United exclusively. Lucky for me, my first project was in Denver... and it would be only a few short weeks until I re-discovered FT and started my edumacation!
Since then, I've flown 42 delightful segments. Relevant stats for my own personal TravelTrek are as follows.
The Good: ONE cancellation, and it was on my last trip of the year. ZERO delays of over 2 hours, and only three or four over 1 hour. SIX for SIX successful standbys on earlier flights, FOUR of which were back in pre-status days. ELEVEN for TWELVE cheating my way into E+ before status... sorry guys ;)
The Bad: ZERO op-ups, pre or post-status (mitigated by being magically given two CR-1s at one point)... that's actually it.
The Rediculous: ONE insane MR that took me MCI-DEN-IAD-LHR-IAD-STL-DEN-MCI in a 39 hour period. ONE rerouting of MCI-DEN-LAX to MCI-IAD-LAX.TWO intentionally booked 4+ hr Denver layovers to watch the planes land in the snow... I got a little more snow than I had hoped, this time.
and finally, The Miles:
Total RDM: 127,239
Total BIS: 48,766
Total EQM: 83,909 (double promo -- thought I was gonna make 1K :( )
Total EQS: 74
Starting status: GM
Ending status: Premier Exec
My thanks to all my friends who have made this travel year a safe, exciting, wonderful experience. From the United ground, gate and flight crew, to the airport staff including ATCs and, yes, security screeners, to the wonderful people here on FlyerTalk. I owe it all to you.
But you still can't have any of my miles :)

A little over 105 K on CO with some miles spread on Foreign Carriers. Avoided all other domestics this year including skyteam partners. Upgrades almost all the time except the HNL IAH flights. Come to think of it, I was upgraded I think 100% with exception of GUM HNL and HNL IAH segments which never is upgraded without miles or $$$. Was able to get a few of those upgrades cleared with miles however. Had one damaged luggage but paid for by CO without issue. Never had a delayed bag this year and only had one segment delayed due to weather (got to circle IAH for a few hours and landed in San Antonio for a while waiting for storms to clear). Had one mechancial delay and avoided all RJ's this year again. :D
Overall, a rocky start at the begining of the year with CO but very happy with CO at the end. ^

Please excuse the length of this post. I went into a lot of detail. :)
I rang in the new year in El Calafate, Argentina. I was doing a tour of Patagonia, and had just seen the Perito Moreno glacier (a sight to behold). On January 1 we crossed the border into Chile. We considered further south, spent three nights at Torres del Paine, visited a penguin colony near Punta Arenas, then crossed back into Argentina and headed towards Ushuaia (the southernmost city in the world). After a beautiful cruise of the Beagle Channel and several long hikes along Tierra del Fuego, I said goodbye to Patagonia and flew back to Buenos Aires (on Aerolineas Argentinas), where I stayed for a few nights. After spending a few days at EZE watching tango and gorging on steaks, I caught a UA flight to Montevideo, Uruguay, where I spent a couple days. On the way back I received my first op-up (MVD-EZE), I was already flying in business class EZE-ORD and the the check-in agent was nice enough to upgrade me.
Had a cash shortage problem at MVD that forced me to beg for money. For whatever reason I did not have enough hard currency to pay the departure tax, and although they accepted Mastercard, all I had was Visa. I had plenty of money in my bank account, but the ATM was not working. In desperation, I wandered around the airport asking people for dollar bills. In one instance, I approached a person who looked like a diplomat; when I asked him for money, the man threw a dollar at me, and before I had a chance to thank him, he was already running to the other side of the terminal. :o
Went to MCO to visit family in January, and went to Epcot for the first time in 15 years. In February, I did my first true MR, an overnight trip to RDU with mostly UX segments. I brought a number of books for research, because during that MR I worked on an opinion essay (on the Russian-Japanese territorial dispute) that I was going to submit for a competition with the Russian department at my university. I researched, wrote, and proofread the essay during my MR, and lo and behold, the essay won the award for 2006 (http://www.crees.ku.edu/current_students/Laird_Essay.shtml)! :D
In March, during Spring Break, I flew to Marrakech, Morocco (RAK) via LHR. Snow delays forced me to stay overnight at ORD, making me miss a day of my vacation. But when I arrived in RAK all was forgotten as I spent a week in a beautiful country that I had not yet visited. On the way back I somehow did the unthinkable and made an 80 minute connection T1 --> T3 (BA to UA) at LHR. I arrived on the plane with just minutes to spare.
Late May I flew back to MCO to spend time with family, because I was going to be spending two months studying abroad in Japan (in Hakodate). When I left for Japan, I got my second op-up of the year (SFO-KIX). Because I left for Japan on 6/6/06 and school didn't start until 6/16, I spent some time visiting friends in Korea. A glitch on the UA site allowed me to book a 40K award KIX-ICN, via SFO, all in F. ^ (It was the same kind of deal lucky9876coins did, and I think I completed my travel a week before he commenced his.) Upon landing in ICN (after flying KIX-SFO and SFO-ICN), I took a short flight on OZ to RSU, where I stayed with a friend for an extended weekend. On the return trip ICN-SFO, I had the best flight of the year; the F cabin was barely full, the FAs were attentive and very friendly. Upon arriving again at KIX, I flew to HKD (Hakodate) on NH via ITM and HND. On the HND-HKD flight there was a plane swap to an international 777; because of my *G status, they put me in business class for the flight. Hakodate was my home for those next two months.
At the end of my study abroad, I took a train from Hakodate to Osaka, where I was to take my return flight on UA: KIX-ORD. The no-liquids ban had just taken effect, and I was very concerned about how I was going to brush my teeth/keep hydrated/store my contact lenses on the long flight back. Upon check-in I was given my third op-up of the year (gotta love Obon season ). The amenity kit fortunately allowed me to keep freshened up, but I stored my contacts in water from the lav, something my eye doctor was absolutely horrified to hear :o. Spent another few days in MCO with family before finally returning home to Kansas.
On the way back, I routed my flight back to MCI via SFO for the miles. On the MCO-SFO flight, I was given my fourth op-up; I had originally wanted to use my 500-mile certs, but was told I didn't need to use them. On my final flight that night DEN-MCI, I was surprised to find that I was the only person in F. The flight was on a 757 (with 24 F seats), E+ had 2-3 people, and E- was pretty full; this disparity made the experience of being the only person in F even weirder. I took full advantage of the F amenities on this short flight, even almost completing an entire bottle of Merlot, and I left the plane completely inebriated. :D
On Labor Day weekend, I went on a 5-day trip to HNL. Flew in F on the way there, and realized that UA's F product on the Hawaii routes is crap. The main purpose of the trip was to visit the University of Hawaii at Manoa, but it's impossible to go to Hawaii and not turn it into a vacation. So I visited Pearl Harbor, did tons of shopping, relaxed at the beach, and did several nature tours. Flew back HNL-ORD in Y (exit row seat), happy that I didn't spend miles or certs to fly in F.
After September, travel was pretty much nonexistent until Thanksgiving. I had booked a standard award ticket to MCO, and for the my MCI-ORD flight that day, I got my fifth op-up of the year! ^
In early December, I completed a mileage run to make 1K for 2007. The routing was insane: MCI-DEN-SFO-IAD-FRA-SFO-BOS-IAD-MCI, with a one night stay in FRA. On the SFO-IAD flight, I was sitting in 9C on a 757; the person in 9A was a former Flyertalk reader (who doesn't fly much now). He was amazed at my MR routing, and because he was Chinese/Korean descent he was interested in my graduate studies. During boarding, and before take-off, I basically told him a succinct history of the East Asian region from the 19th century to the present day, and how history reflects current relations between Japan, China, Korea, and Russia today; this caught the attention of one of the FAs (he was from Sri Lanka and knows his history), who joined in our conversation. We talked at length about Western colonialism, Japanese imperialism, and a bunch of wars (the Crimean, Russo-Japanese, WWI, WWII, and the Korean War), and it was seriously the best and most interesting conversation I've ever had with a seatmate and FA. ^
On the IAD-FRA and FRA-SFO flights I was quite productive; I had final exams that same week so I was frantically studying and writing papers. Although I spent a night in FRA I didn't do much there; I was so exhausted from flying that all I did was sleep. Upon returning to the US I had a 6 hour layover in SFO, where I basically did nothing but watch football in the RCC. I slept the entire time on the SFO-BOS and BOS-IAD flights. The IAD-MCI flight was with Messy Airlines, and, as expected it was delayed.
The final two flights of the year were MCI-IAD, and IAD-MCO (where I am not, visiting family as usual). The IAD-MCO flight encountered a mechanical problem, which forced us to deplane and board a different one; we ended up taking off 2.5 hours after originally scheduled. Fortunately I was able to avoid the mess in DEN.
Anyway, overall this has been a wonderful year of travel. Although I've been reading FT this years, this is the first year in which I have become an active poster. I'm hoping to become a more active contributor in '07, and I definitely hope to meet some of you in my future travels.

Ending Status: UA 1K ^

Here's a synopsis of my year in travel.
January: BOS-JFK-VIE-ATH-VIE-JFK-BOS on B6/OS
Flew down to JFK from BOS on B6, then used OS for my international leg. Very impressed with the OS Y product. Trip report available here (http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=517730).
February: BOS-IAD-SEA-IAD-BOS on UA
Weekend trip to visit my aunt and uncle, since I found a fare for under $200. Upgraded to F on the BOS-IAD-SEA leg, but had my lone misconnect of the year while in IAD, and was stuck in Y on the later flight I took. Received a CR1 as compensation. Took the red-eye home.
March: BOS-ORD-KIX-ORD-BOS on UA
Flew to Japan on a $539 sale fare for my spring break. Upgraded to F on the BOS-ORD and the ORD-BOS legs. Was able to upgrade my travel companion as well on the ORD-BOS leg. We were op-upped into C for the KIX-ORD leg, which was my best flight ever! Trip report available here (http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=640064).
May: MHT-ORD-DEN-LAS on UA
Chose a two-stop itinerary to minimize the time spent of Ted. Upgraded to F on MHT-ORD leg (explus) and on ORD-DEN leg (mainline). Junked the second half of this roundtrip ticket in order to go directly to London from Las Vegas.
June: LAS-YYZ-LHR-YYZ-BOS on AC
Open-jaw trip through Toronto on a visit to the UK. Disappointed with AC's Hospitality Class. Missed the extra legroom that I get in UA's economy plus. Trip report is forthcoming.
June: LCY-LUX on VG
Quick side trip from London on VLM's turboprop service to LUX, largely because I wanted a passport stamp from LUX. Took the train to Brussels and the Eurostar back to London on my return trip.
August: LGA-DEN-LGA on F9
Sightseeing and hiking tour of the Western United States. Flew with my friend who lives in New York City. Frontier had the cheapest flights to DEN.
October: BOS-SFO-BOS on UA
Job interview in SFO. Flight booked one week in advance. Stuck in E- on outbound trip but upgraded to F on return trip using CR1.
December: BOS-ORD-OKC-DEN-BOS on UA
Mileage run to requalify for 1P. Upgraded on OKC-DEN leg (explus) and DEN-BOS leg (mainline). Avoided major Midwestern snowstorm by one day.

OK, here goes. I'll try to add the same level of detail as PresRDC, though I'll use some outside sources to get it...
2006 was pretty crazy for me at 57685 flown miles on 10 different airlines (5 of which I had not flown before - AZ, BD, AF, OS and BA). The most I've ever travelled in one year, that's for sure.
- to 3 FT DOs (in Glasgow, London and Salzburg)
- to a war zone (Israel in July)
- to 14 countries
- from no status anywhere to LH FTL(*S) status, Hilton Gold and Sixt Gold
I met some interesting people from all around the world and made some true friends. I got hit on by too many guys and not enough girls, discovered some fascinating new drinks (like 42 below vodka, which I highly recommend!) and a killer hangover cure, and managed to sport a very nice tan for most of the year.
FT made much of it possible, calling my attention to the 1 THB/night mistake rate at the Holiday Inn Phuket, the 400 Euro M-Class tickets to SIN on LH ex-CDG, the wonderful Beirut-based FTers with whom I had two excellent dinners and a lot of laughs, the numerous DOs and a number of other things which opened quite a few doors.
My mileage accounts have grown, or have been streamlined, and I'm working my way to some very nice redemptions in the coming years.
In short, it's been a heck of a ride, and I look forward to 2007! :D

Joined flyertalk recently but see that I am in good company!
Orasen, the hotel you mention is "Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, Noordwijk aan Zee" in The Netherlands. Nice choice, although a bit too close to home for me :)
Although the year is not fully over yet the following are my 2006 travel stats:
95 flights (77 *A and 18 unfortunately on other carriers!)
104,115 Miles flown, a lot of Europe, Middle East, USA, and Asia.
185,960 BD *A Destination miles earned as well as 92,941 BD *A Status Miles, so solid Gold *A for next year!
85 Hotel nights, most with Radisson SAS
Best Flight > BKK to FRA in C
Best Hotel > Sofitel Metropole Hanoi
Best Restaurant > Sirocco in BKK, Amazing
Most upgrades > UA LHR-IAD and IAD-LHR, Great Service
Soon off to Moscow in BD C for New Year! Good start of 2007!

A record breaking year for myself this 2006. Majority are corporate trips paid by the company. Too lazy to calculate the total number of miles though!

I'd like to know how many hours were spent in the air....Got to to be close to a month.

I think I spent more than a month in the air. Even at an average speed of 500mph it would be 36 days. But I had close to 100 short prop flights which were 45-75 minutes each (rather than distance divided by 500).

Best flight (long-haul):
SFO-HKG in SQ C in December. First SQ flight after 5 months of flying no-service airlines - NW/DL/AF. It was literally like coming home.
Best flight (short-haul):
3 flights on Kingfisher (IT). IFE, meal, printed menus, amenity kits on a 45min flight. Not to mention the hottie FAs ;)
Worst Flight:
CDG-DTW AF Y. My longest flight in Y. Horrible airport, really...and a 2 hour delay didn't help.
Best Airport / Lounge:
SIN / SIN SKL F, where I finally did an overnighter last week - the slumberette rooms were very comfy after lots of Dom.
Worst Airport / Lounge:
CDG. 1 hour for L'Espace checkin, 1 hour for security, 45 min bus ride to remote gate.
Best Hotel:
InterContinental Resort Bali. Separate points redemption mistakes for the Imperial Villa and the Bukit Suite - honored with full RA benefits including free minibar, late checkout, Jaguar/Merc ride from airport, lounge access for upto 3 people.
Worst Hotel:
None, but the Le Meridien Etoile was the most overrated. I've stayed in better Holiday Inn Express hotels.
Best Mileage Earning Opportunity of the Year:
DL iDine bonus offering 25,000 bonus miles for 25 $25 dines. I bought $25 gift certificates from my favourite deli - all my lunches for next semester are paid for :D
Biggest Travel-Related ****-Up of the Year:
DL LIM-ATL flight cancelled. Apparently there was an earthquake in Ecuador and DL couldn't fly the incoming plane around it so turned it back to ATL. Funny how CO, AA and LP all managed to fly their planes around the volcanic cloud but DL couldn't. No compensation provided as it was an "Act of God". Checked into the Sheraton Lima for 2 days and claimed it back from my credit card travel insurance. DL rebooked me in C two days later, and only after I sent a complaint letter, credited 10k miles to my account.
Biggest Travel Disappointment of the Year:
Increase in KrisFlyer redemption rates.
Regret of the Year:
Not booking more points redemptions at the IC Bali.
Thing You're Most Looking Forward To In 2007 Award:
Redeeming the last of my KrisFlyer miles for SQ C awards.
Best FT deals utilized:
IC Bali Villa + Suite redemption.
Holiday Inn Phuket 0.01 baht rate - 6 days, 18000 bonus PC points earned.
Conrad BKK Presidential Suite
Bookings made for 2007 on the NW YYZ-BUH and CO MSP-LGW deals

This is an excellent way to keep track of my flights for the year. (Though I actually have all my boarding passes except one. I was shocked to find that many when I went through the pile.)
20,616 BIS miles. Should be a little busier next year.
And I'm having some trouble with the map, but will post it later when I have more time to fool around with HTML.

I flew 142,048 miles this year (actual BIS miles, not assuming 500-mile minimums). I'll spare you all the individual flights with date/times, but here is a breakdown of the various routes flown with a map (http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=MSP-DFW-ACA-DFW%0D%0ADFW-ORD-NRT-ITM%0D%0AKIX-KUL-BKK-HKT-BKK%0D%0ABKK-KUL-BKI-KIX%0D%0AKIX-SFO-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-ORD-MEM-MKE-MSP-SAN%0D%0ASAN-MSP-DTW-MEM-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-DTW-SFO-NRT-SIN%0D%0ASIN-NRT-SFO-MSP%0D%0AMSP-LAS-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-PHX-HNL%0D%0AHNL-PDX-MSP-YYZ-DTW-LAX-HNL%0D%0AHNL-PHX-MSP%0D%0AMSP-DTW-PDX-NRT-SIN%0D%0ASIN-REP-BKK%0D%0ABKK-KUL-PEK%0D%0APEK-CSX-PEK%0D%0APEK-HKG%0D%0AHKG-NRT-SFO-DTW-MSP%0D%0AMSP-PHL-SYR-DTW-MSP%0D%0ASYR-DTW-SEA-ATL-SYR%0D%0AMSP-CLT-YYZ%0D%0AYYZ-FCO-LCA-MXP-YYZ-MSP%0D%0AMSP-LAS%0D%0ALAS-MKE-MSP-MCI-MSP%0D%0AMSP-PHX-DTW-PHX-LAS-MSP%0D%0AMSP-PHX-MSP%0D%0AMCO-MSP%0D%0AMSP-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-ORD-MSP%0D%0AMSP-ORD-MSP%0D%0A&RANGE=&PATH-COLOR=red&PATH-UNITS=mi&SPEED-GROUND=&SPEED-UNITS=kts&RANGE-STYLE=best&RANGE-COLOR=navy&MAP-STYLE=).

34K United EQM, more than 20K of it in C. Out of pocket about $1500 (the Sep and Oct transcons were the $109 mistakes) and I made $400 in Type B vouchers. I drop from PremEx to Premier as I couldn't rationalize the $499 for the double EQM promo.
My wife flew the same itins with the exception of the Mar transcon for 27K EQM on UA. Her out of pocket was like $1250 and she got the $400 VDB vouchers as well. She remains Premier.
Thanks, FT! I really like being an informed consumer of airline products. :)

Here is the recap of my insane 135 segments on 13 airlines. All of it was for pleasure, this was the last year I was subsidized by my parents and the last year I didn't have to work full time, so I enjoyed it to the fullest extent as now I'm in the real world and it'll drop off.

In total 87 flight segments. All in all quite a good year for me, even though my travel was cut down by the birth of my daughter in October. Next year is not looking so rosy at the moment.
Some meaningless trivia:
Longest flight: KUL-FRA (6216 miles)
Shortest flights: HEL-TLL-HEL and VAA-KOK (63 miles)
Worst flight: LH3108 FRA-HEL on 250106 - Unexpected snowfall in Germany together with the SK strike at CPH wrecked havoc on my travel plans. Ended up sitting in the plane at the FRA apron for 3 hours waiting in the deicing queue.
Best flight: SK719 HEL-CPH on 070706 - One of the only three biz class flights for the whole year. There were three persons in C class: me, my wife and some bloke - back of the curtain seemed packed. Excellent and highly personal service. Same flight on 231106 in P class was something completely different, though.
Countries visited: 16 - Finland, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, Poland, Estonia, China, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Denmark, Latvia, France, Norway and The Netherlands.
Airports visited: 38
Airlines flown: 17 (KL, KF, LH, AB, AY, FC, SQ, MH, 4U, LO, DI, CA, MU, EI, FR, LS, SK)
Hotel nights: 35
Best hotel: Hilton CPH Airport - As a newly minted HHonors Gold VIP got upgraded to the Executive floor for the first time and boy, was I impressed. Great service, spotless and immaculate room and a great lounge.
Worst hotel: Copthorne Hotel, Manchester - Bad service, charged me again for my (prepaid) Priceline stay, indifferent staff. Felt more like a motel with a great view of the car park from my room.
Honorable mention: Hilton Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur: Otherwise a great hotel, but has got some serious cockroach problems.
Happy and safe travels in the new year, everybody!

Yeah, I'm a domestic road warrior. :) Lots of redeyes, too. Racing season ends on Labor Day weekend, and so does my business travel.
Noteworthy trip: The April mileage run, whence I stumbled upon a quirk of airline scheduling and spent more than a day aboard a single A321, tail number N187US. The F-cabin FAs thought I was bonkers.

I have been over flying in 2006 and here it is:
PHX-TPA three times in 2006 visit with my brother
PHX-FLL twice during visit with my relatives and visit with BCAD who has been retired from FLL.
PHX-LAX/SAN on WN during the trip to LAX for family graduations and weekend off from work.
PHX-TLV for 1 week vacation trip from work.
This is mostly time when I was fly on DL/WN/NW.
I have almost over 40,000 MQM last year in 2006. So I may fly more miles in 2007.
I should done for flying on DL to became Silver Medallion. If I can chance fly on DL this year in 2007 toward GM. Does you know talking about review when I was flying?

Rather than rehash all my flights and details let me say I flew a total of 40 times (not segments) in 2006.
*I flew this airline back in 1984 when it was simply called USAir
First time I saw the following cities:
Edmonton, AB; Winnipeg, MB; Revelstoke and Kamloops, BC; Redfield, Faulkton and Dupree, SD; Drayton, Grand Forks, Rugby and Minot, ND; Wolf Point, Glasgow, Malta, Chinook and Havre, MT
I visited the following attractions in 2006:
Sears Tower (Chicago)
Calgary Tower (Calgary)
CN Tower (Toronto)
Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC)
Sponge Docks (Tarpon Springs, FL)
USAF Academy, Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and Garden of the Gods (all in Colorado Springs, CO)
In 2006, I got to spend at least a little time exploring the following cities I've previously been to or through:
Danbury, CT; St. Augustine and Jacksonville, FL; Greenville and Columbia, SC; Milwaukee and Tomah, WI; Minneapolis and Rothsay, MN; Fargo and Medora, ND; Billings, Livingston, Butte and Missoula, MT; Junction City, KS; Colorado Springs, CO; Evanston, Rawlins and Laramie, WY; Ogden, UT; Springer, NM and Calgary, AB
I flew to and from Canada for the first time. I also flew domestically within Canada for the first time. My longest segment was AA #117 JFK-LAX actual flying time 5:23 (projected 5:27). This was my longest flight since 1978 if I recall. Best service was same flight as I was in F on a three-class plane.

Fewer segments than in 2005 (138 vs 211), but higher mileage (136,099 vs 80,157)
I won't bore you with the details, but this included 10 transatlantic trips with 4 different airlines (BA, BD, CO, KL) and I am now Gold with all 3 alliances (BA, bmi & KLM)
Just worked out how to put the map into GCM. Here (http://tinyurl.com/y5z6nv)
Best Flight:- BA LHR - YVR in FIRST
Worst Flight:- Any one of several GLA - DUB or vice versa with EI.
Most Unusual Flight:- SSH - LXR on an Egyptair long haul 777 with me and the family as the only passengers in business class. Unfortunately we only had a 40 minute flight to enjoy it in.
After seeing everyone elses trips, i'm not even going to post my paltry list. I will say though i got my first op-up this year to UA biz on a PS transcon.
goodo
But I will just to post a lighter side and show what got me into FT.
Dec 16: ORD-MSP
MSP-ORD
ORD-MSP
MSP-ORD
Part of UA fly 3 before they changed the rules that you did not have to fly in December.
However I have already 37 segments booked on various airlines by the end of February - these include trips to LHR, IST, ATH, FEZ, FRA and SJU which are all for fun with stays involved.
Let's have a cheer for my 4 2006 segments.
It is a lot of fun to read where everybody has been.

Bold flights were in C-Class, all others in Y. None of the flights were work-related.
Best service and food: CPH-FRA, Lufthansa Business Class, Oct 1
Worst service and food: LAX-ZRH, Swiss Economy, Nov 4
Most annoying airline: Iberia
Best airline: Swiss
Best airport: ZRH - my new home airport
Worst airports: FRA, LAX, VIE
Most annoying security procedure: In BCN they require you to store all your belongings (bag, coat, jacket, belt, wallet, phone) in plastic trays at the beginning of the security line and carry them to the checkpoint in these trays! Looks very funny and is completely stupid and useless IMHO!
Most surprising security procedure: At LAX TBIT the security line moved extremely fast because the officers just didn´t care to check anything or anyone. Walked through with my belt, watch (both of them usually set off an alarm) as well as plenty of liquids and the only thing the guy said to me was "Move on, move on, do not block the checkpoint!!!"
Best view from a plane: Greenland on LX40 from ZRH to LAX, March 1
Best hotel stays:
-The Holiday Inn Laguna Beach
-Copenhagen Marriott (upgraded to a deluxe waterview room)
Best value for money: ZRH-VIE on Flyniki - great sandwich and drinks included in 31 EUR total fare
Best travel experience: driving from Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes on March 4 - beautiful weather and a breathtaking scenery along HWY 395!
Most memorable meal: Lobster and Steak; sitting on the sunny patio of "Longboard" in Huntington Beach, California
Best restaurants:
-230 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach, California
-Bestiari, Barcelona, Spain
============================
That´s it for 2006!
Have a great and safe travel year 2007!

Best airport: AMS
Most hated airport: CDG
Best food and service: AF First ( what else ;) )
Worst food and service: KL LAX-AMS in April
Especially good flights are in green, and especially bad flights are in red.
My worst flight was DEN-MSP on a Frontier A319 (flown by the penguins plane) on December 14th. This was not really Frontier's fault, but rather just weather. It was rather turbulent, and the TV service stopped working shortly after takeoff. I, unfortunately, had already paid for the TV service before takeoff with a credit card. The F/As spent most of the short flight trying to fix the TVs, and the beverage service was then cancelled.
My best flight was my Sun Country flight from MSP-PHX on November 25th. Service was standard for Sun Country, which is pretty good, but the loads were light and I had my own row, which made this flight especially good.
My most surprisingly good flight was my first flight on Delta, from PHX-ATL on a red-eye. The MD-88 had the new interior. The F/As did a full beverage service, then gave out free snackboxes, then gave out more snacks, and then gave out water bottles before landing. I was expecting service to be more like NW where they do one beverage service and then sell snackboxes for $3. I was pleasantly surprised with Delta.
