Thread title says it all - I have 30,000 points and have no clue on how to spend them. What is generally the best use of the points? Additionally, does Hyatt allow transfers to other programs?
Hyatt Gold Passport - Best Use of 30,000 GP PointsView Full Version : Best Use of 30,000 GP Points FightingIlliniUAL Dec 19, 06, 9:34 am Thread title says it all - I have 30,000 points and have no clue on how to spend them. Mary2e Dec 19, 06, 9:37 am If you book it before 12/29, you can get 2 nights at the Kauai Hyatt, probably one of the best deals out there. The redemption level rises to 18k pts per night after that date. Ditto for the PH Vendome. HouFlyer Dec 19, 06, 10:09 am Look at a weekend in a Park Hyatt for the 30k points. Book prior to 12/29 when the redemption level goes up to $36k for the two nights. christianj Dec 19, 06, 10:46 am I think the OP question is a little to broad to get a good answer. Do you want to stay in N. America or are you looking at foreign Hyatts too? When do you want to travel? etc., etc. Generally the highest priced properties will bring the best return per point for you but that doesn't matter if you cannot or do not want to travel to those destinations. I am cashing in 60k points as follows and IMHO the return is pretty good: 1. 2 night Park Hyatt Milan in May 07- Bookable rate is Euro 565 (approx. $735) per night for the nights I want so it works out very close to $0.05 per point 2. 2 nights at the Victor in South Beach in Dec. 07 - Bookable rate is $793 per night for the nights I want so it works out at over $0.05 per point! wuhoo Dec 19, 06, 5:02 pm you could give the points to me ;) FightingIlliniUAL Dec 21, 06, 1:41 pm I understand how to value the points using the available rates to work out a cost per point, similar to points. I guess my question really amounts to the use of miles to book rooms, upgrade rooms, transfer to other programs or even trade them in CC. As I rarely stay at Hyatt Properties and don't travel overseas all too often, would transfering to another program or trading the points be a better use? Mary2e Dec 21, 06, 1:48 pm You can't transfer to another program. If you don't want to stay in a Hyatt your next best option might be to trade them. peteropny Dec 21, 06, 1:55 pm You can't transfer to another program. If you don't want to stay in a Hyatt your next best option might be to trade them. Well you can transfer them into airline programs but the exchange rate is really poor. Mary2e Dec 21, 06, 1:58 pm That's why I didn't even mention it. It's so poor it may as well not exist. ;) He'd do better trading in coupon connection. FightingIlliniUAL Dec 21, 06, 2:16 pm Thanks for the information guys. Brendan Dec 21, 06, 3:06 pm The Hyatts in *Perth, *Adelaide, & Auckland are all Cat. 1 = only 5000 points for a room night/ 8000 for a suite :D ! (* Increasing to Cat. 2 soon!) The best thing about Hyatt & Marriott points is that they can be transferred to a friend's acct. FEE-FREE! If U transfer 30K Hyatt to airline on hyatt.com, U will get a measly 12K miles :td:. IMHO a Hyatt point is worth at least a mile, so if U don't need Hyatt room nights, U should go to tCC. |
