I wonder how long until Air Tran pulls out...I think it will be similar to some other routes, especially in such a small market. N830MH Dec 19, 06, 11:25 am 65-70% What this? Is that good enough more capacity growth in SWF? toddr4fun Dec 19, 06, 4:34 pm http://pojonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061219/NEWS01/61219024 Today's inaugural SWF-FLL flight had 112 passengers booked (72%) "For a first day of service, those are really numbers that we like," said Todd Burke, a JetBlue marketing executive. http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061219/NEWS/612190345 Looks like flight 576 MCO - SWF had 140 according to this article. If this is true, 90% load factor on day 1 is very good! Especially for a Tuesday. cptlflyer Dec 19, 06, 5:18 pm ... especially in such a small market. It's not a small market... Stewart has been vying for a spot as New York City's fourth airport, and for much of the NYC metro area (Westchester, Rockland, North Jersey, and the Hudson Valley) SWF is as accessible -- if not more so -- than EWR/LGA/JFK. Competition from HPN is marginal enough right now that I think SWF may be able to hold its own... but, I used the word "vying" for a reason... only time will tell if it works. (For example, the low-cast boom at JFK stifled the grandiose plans to beef-up ISP as a major low-cost alternative for the NYC area.) My point is, the service wasn't for the local Newburgh market... the addition of B6 and others at SWF is part of the airport's experiment to be considered metro-NYC. airlinepeps Dec 20, 06, 10:39 pm the loads were very good on there first day of service hopefully they will add service to Las Vegas becuase besides florida that is the next big market out of Newburgh. Transmerdian Airlines used to do that route on a 757 and the loads were pretty good. Also marketing has said that Jetblue will add service very soon. airlinepeps Dec 20, 06, 10:49 pm Source? I wonder how long until Air Tran pulls out...I think it will be similar to some other routes, especially in such a small market. Marketing said that Airtran booking are doing well. It may surprize alot of people but the Hudson Valley has a very very high Demand for Florida Destinations, any airline on those routes besides the legacy carries will have high passenger loads. jetBlueNYFL Dec 20, 06, 11:07 pm I never underestimated the market demand at SWF. I know I said "such a small market" but I think I was trying to compare it to airports like LGA, JFK and EWR. Either way, I think jetBlue has the NY-metro area covered very well and I would not expect ISP service any time in the next few years, but then again jetBlue has done stranger things. I just doubt it. SWF should work well, but just keep in mind that it is a much smaller market than the actual NYC-area airports. I think SWF will see LAS before others only because a few months ago, Neeleman was at a presentation out there and hinted/talked about the possibility of more service. Since 2007 will see much more connecting the dots than new cities, SWF might just get a piece of the action. |
