What are the best shows for a 10 year old - ie magic, cirque de soleil , and others? Is there any magic show remotely approaching the show of Siegfreid and Roy - my wife and I have seen the show in the past, but not my daughter. The three of us saw Lance Burton a few years ago - although I thought it was good; I did not think it approached the quality of the Siegfreid and Roy show of years past.

Mac King is a great show for kids and adults. Mac always brings one or two of the kids up on stage during his show and they have a great time. It is a small showroom at Harrah's in the afternoon.

Penn & Teller also put on a great magic show in the evening at the Rio. Plus while there she could take part in the "show in the sky".

In a crappy location (the old Debbie Reynolds casino, now called the Greek Isles) is a really great magic show, called The World's Greatest Magic Show. Kids get in free (with paid adult ticket). They have 6 or 7 really good magicians, each doing just a few really special tricks so the show never gets stale for a minute. The kids love it and the adults too - highly recommend it.

Also, most of the Cirque shows (other than Zumanity) are good for kids - and of course there is the circus at Circus Circus with rides and stuff in the back.

You might want to take her to Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay - a very cool aquarium, plus Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden is still open at the Mirage.

Oh, I forgot to mention Jubilee! at Bally's - the last of a dying breed of Vegas variety shows...they have topless dancers, but they have a tamer (with tops on) version of the show (call for times of that performance). The show has all kinds of variety acts, and the Titanic sinks on stage and it is a fun, real Vegas thing to see and I think your daughter would like it as well.

As much as I love Penn & Teller (and I'm a huge fan), I wouldn't take a 10 year old - wait 4-5 years, and then go.

Of the Cirque shows, I would probably say Mystere is the best for a 10 year old. There is also a promotion going on right now where you can get a second tix for 13 dollars, although that may only be for locals. Love is very centered onthe Beatles music, and I think Mystere is a better mix of circus elements and other elements than Ka. I've not seen "O". I would agree that Penn & Teller might not be appropriate for a 10 year old. Mama Mia would also be a fun choice for a show; the music is very lively, and it moves right along. I went to it with a 10 year old in London, and she liked it very much.

I don't think any of the current magic/variety shows will approach the spectacle that was S&R as they were at the Mirage; that was a very expensive and very well developed show.

I would strongly recommend Ka over Mystere, especially for young-ins. It's certainly more exciting and, unlike the other cirques, has at least a hint of plot which is even centered around a kids adventure. I'd also recommend 'O' over Mystere. Whether for children or adults, I think the rankings are: Ka > 'O' > Mystere.

I do agree about Mamma Mia though. That'd be my first choice for kids for sure.

Is there a GM track near the Sahara Hotel, good for families/children? What is this all about?

The Tournament of Kings at Excalibur is pretty good, but 10 might be just a little too old to really enjoy it. I enjoyed it back in the day....
