MilesBuzz! - 'Companion tickets' for trips to Hawaii ?

About the companion tickets offered by the platinum credit cards: Delta, for example, says 'contiguous 48 states only'. Does anybody know if it is possible to use that ticket on a trip to Hawaii by paying some extra $$ ? (I'm based in CA)

Alternatively, do some platinum credit cards allow trips to Hawaii on these companion tickets ?

I've never seen anyone be able to pay extra to use the companion certificate to Hawaii. That being said, it may be worth a phonecall to delta, but I doubt it'd be successful.

in the past, hawaii residents could use companion tickets from the ua cc and maybe aa to come to the mainland....which makes sense i guess..

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Pitou! I called UA customer service once and asked--we had a home in CA and in HI--and only a trip starting in HI could use the companion ticket. It's always worth a call or two (or three) to your airline, just in case you find someone willing to help you....
