Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - what if I miss CX831 check in by 20-30 mins?

Hi,
Just wondering what CX do if I miss the CX831 check in by 10-20 minutes? Will I be put on the CX889? Any fee? Travelling on Wednesday in Jan means possible snow!
I will be coming off a B6 flight from Syracuse with checked luggages scheduled to arrive at 12:32pm connect to the 14:40 CX831. If everything on time, I should be fine but even a 20-30 minutes delay it would be a close call. Should I just book the CX 889?

thanks!

B6 doesn't interline, so if you have any checked baggage there is zero chance of making this connection, even if landing on time at JFK. Hope you have carry-on only. Even then you would be unlikely to make it over to T7 in time to check-in, unless you are flying in F (which has a later cutoff time for check-in). Maybe better to get an earlier flight. If you miss the flight, it becomes the standard routing change, and the fee depends on your fare basis, but usually costs money.

I think we discussed this before about MCT in JFK. with no interline agreements, there is no WAY you can make the connection in less than 3 hours IMO.

Lets just say ur plane arrives on time and you can get out of T2/3 (Forgot which terminal B6 uses) by 1pm. You have to get the Sky train (lagging all the luggage with you), the train journey will take around (from terminal door to ther other terminal door) 30 minutes.

So you only have 70 minutes which is cutting it way too fine!

You can ICheck which will help slightly (cut off for Icheck pax is 45 minutes)

If you want to book on the 889 then you prob have to wait till the evening before they can check ur luggage for u, so either way it will be a hassle for you. Can't you take a later B6 flight and get the 889 instead?

It's tight, but not impossible. If you have checked luggage your chances go down dramatically since it can take an hour for it to appear at JFK.

Someone that knows exactly what they're doing can make this connection, assuming no delays.

So you only have 70 minutes which is cutting it way too fine!

Really? Are you sure about that?

The BA F (Emerald) Lounge is less than 10 minutes from check in, including time going through security - there is never a long line. The CX gate is a three to five minute walk from there. You definitely do not need anywhere close to 70 minutes! Although I normally plan to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to departure, I have arrived as close as 25-30 mins before due to traffic and never missed the flight.

Thanks for all the response!

I have done the exact same connection in the summer when the CX831 leaves around 3 something PM. My B6 flight arrived on time. I picked up my checked luggages, rode the airtrain to T7 from T6 and checked in with CX at around 1:15pm.

This time I forget CX is on winter schedule:(
With internet check in, I still have to drop off my luggages 60 minutes before departure.

I assume for a change fee, I can always try to catch the CX831 when booked on the CX889 if space available.

I guess I will take a later B6 flight and connect to CX889.
I just don't like the B744.
