The Search is the man's best friend, or something...

... However, I cannot find the answer on the OT. The links above doesn't either give an answer.

Have anyone got a status match from Avis to Hertz President's Circle?

From one of the threads

Hertz generally doesn't match status. I'm sure they would make an evaluation for the Platinum status. From what I've read, if you're a C level exec and can influence a lot of business to Hertz, millions $$ / year, then maybe you would have a chance.

Yeah s25843, but that was not what I wanted to read, if you know what I mean? :D

Anyhow, it says "generally", but I wonder if anyone specificly got a status match, or a deny at his/hers request!

I do want to add that, based on my experience, Hertz is over-rated! If Enterprise had a corporate deal, I'd switch: the service is far better. I have rented a few times from Avis (Philadelphia--Hertz is a mess there): I don't see much of a difference between Avis and Hertz.

Wow. Enterprise? :o

I absolutely hate the scratch examination walkaround and the mostly off-airport locations. And the usual wait for service. And the generally low-end cars.

And as an Avis Chairman's member I look longingly on the luxury vehicles I pass by at Hertz on my way to Avis and the boring Cadillac CTS' they always give me...

Don't forget the 20-something clerks aggressively hawking insurance--"This is a no-fault state, your credit card only offers secondary insurance (wrong)."

I actually heard one tell the customer (who declined insurance) in front of me, "Better take a good look at that car, since you may be buying it!" That was way over the top.

I've rented many times with Enterprise and that pattern never changes. I'll stick with Hertz.

It's all situational.

I've had Hertz clerks give the car a walk-around examination more than once... and nearly had a fight with them about damage that existed before the rental that they tried to pin on me (LGW location).

I've flown general aviation (as opposed to airlines) fairly often, and found that E is the only company that will deliver in some locations (but at least one location charges a significantly higher rate if you arrive via general aviation than walk-in the door.... I negotiated the rate down with the manager). At that city, HLE is the only other option, and their service is far worse than E.

OTOH, on one dropoff, I got a call from E, claiming that the car was not returned. They just failed to pick it up. Then again, I've had the same issue with a different HLE office.

E generally has driving restrictions and drop-off prohibitions that Hertz and Avis don't have.

My preference, at this point, is situational. I've got a lot of rentals this year on Hertz, a lesser number on Avis (but maybe enough days for higher status). Since my rentals tend to be longer term (week+ at a time), and the Hertz status calculation is based on rentals (not days), that factors into the equation.

My preference is Hertz, Avis, National, and Enterprise, in that order. But it changes with location and rental.

Do you mean the examination at rental or return.
I would always recommend that you do both

I requested a status match from National Emerald Club Executive Selection to Hertz # 1 Club Gold Five Star level about a month ago. In the request I pointed out 15 rentals in calendar year 2006 with National and another 6-8 with other rental companies.

I was flat out denied, albeit pleasantly, and told that Hertz never offers status matches, but that they would gladly welcome my business and promptly grant my status after ten rentals.

Funny, that's the same reply National gave me about matching my 5* and Preferred Select statuses! :D
